Oh, Jcatbird Jcatbird , how magical! This story might make a good graphic novel, too. I won one of those and received it today. Haven't looked at it yet but look forward to it. Maybe you and Banjo could write the copy and some of the talented artists here on TCS could do the graphics? Just a thought.
SO glad Froggy Prince arrived to visit his love Banjo -- it's just amazing!!!

Okay. Here’s the issue. I hate to even type this. I had company today trying to help me do some work. Very kind. Sadly, for some reason, Mitsy bolted outside when they opened the back door. I can only guess that she got spooked. She has never demonstrated any interest in going out before and I have that door open to take cages in and out for cleaning. I did spot her under the cat room at first. I payed there for over an hour trying to calm her and lure her out. I came in for some chicken and when I went back out, she was gone. :(I hunted for her for hours. I’m going to bring all the kitties out of the cat room and leave the door open for her tonight in the hope that she will return. It’s about 2 now. I just can’t think of anywhere else to look. She is hiding and cats are so good at that. I tried shining a light in the dark but I didn’t see any eyes anywhere! Nothing! I didn’t hear any frogs, no owls. Silence. I came back in for another flashlight and tried to post back but, no signal here. No cable and no power either? I wonder if Mitsy sensed some power surge or heard something that we didn’t. I have power again and a signal but still no cable. Hopefully no wrecks or anything nearby. Being near the highway and interstate, we often have activity around here. If Mitsy did hear something, it’s all quiet now, hoping, hoping she will show up at dawn. The other kitties are surrounding me right now. BJ and Flowers are huddled together on the sofa beside me. Banjo and Whistle keep walking over me and then going to the door. I took these photos of her last night when I let everyone inspect the work kitty room.

As always, next to BJ.

rubysmama rubysmama Thank you for the video. This would be a good time for a little magic.

Please forgive me everyone for not responding to all posts. I’ll do that tomorrow.

OMC my worst nightmare is having cats get out! so I empathize bigtime. :vibes::vibes::vibes::runningcat::heartshape: Calo took two strolls around the back yard not long after we moved in here. We're lucky to have a lot of doors to close, but I have to be SURE they latch. No being in too much of a hurry to do that!!! I was able to scoop him up and bring him in both times. Probably took a few months off my life expectancy each time. SO glad Mitsy is back inside and safe!:welcomeback2::goldstar:
Your floor is going to be beautiful! Marble look. Beautiful with the aqua and white trim.

We could use some good vibes right now. Ongoing drama... as usual!’;) No one hurt or sick but..... I’m worried. Sitting outside and trying to catch a cat. :(
rubysmama rubysmama Thank you! Long story but she is safe. :thud:Going to rest a bit but will be back.
GOOD GRIEF! Heart on the floor and then back in my chest all in the space of half a page! WELCOME BACK, MITSY!

Thank you to everyone. :heartshape: We had a very long night. I got a couple of hours of sleep. I may try to get a couple more! ;)
The kitties are all attended to and resting so I better take advantage of the calm. I’ll be back to post the whole kitty hunt later.

Somehow I thought I was through with laying on the ground at 3 A.M. and fighting mosquitos! The Frog Prince must have cast a rescue charm. It worked. He actually escorted me last night. If I hadn’t been so worried, I would have been laughing. Now I can relax so I’ll show you all what he did later.

The photos of Mitsy after coming back to her family are so heartwarming. She’s very glad to be safe. It was a bit of a close call, I think. Outside here is just not safe for kitties. She is sleeping now.

We had started the day out well. I thought I would get a lot of time in with a little help from a friend and

Lady helped paint moulding with her tail! ;) She got mad when I told her skunks have a white stripe up their tails!

Then Froggie came for a visit.

You can see the painted boards outside here in the second photo of Banjo. I started thinking about everything. We all learn as we go! Perhaps her running out had nothing to do with company, fear or power outages. Maybe Mitsy just wanted to be near me outside and that’s why she ran out. She knows the friend that was here so....
(I do know that when I found her, she was terrified of being out. She was’t happy to be there.)
When I tried to grab her as she first ran out,she gave me a bit of a mark to my already wounded self! I couldn’t catch her and she bolted under the cat room! The rest of the day was spent trying to convince Mitsy that everything was okay. I finally came inside to get my cat catching tools. A can of chicken, my phone, a flashlight, leather gloves and Mitsy’s carrier. When I returned to look under the house, Mitsy had withdrawn to the farthest place under the house. I laid down by the entrance for the next few hours. Calling her did nothing. I finally tossed a few pieces of chicken to her. She did get up and eat a little but then withdrew. I stayed perfectly still after that and hoped she would follow the trail of chicken to the entrance. When I did have to get back up for water, when I returned, Mitsy was gone! :bawling2:I searched for her all night. I went to all her old hang outs. I shined the flashlight everywhere looking for the reflection of her eyes. It had gotten very quiet outside. No sounds and no eyes of any kind. Unusual here. I came back and cleared all the kitties out of the cat room and opened the door. I put food just inside and waited. Nothing. I made a place to sleep on the floor behind the door so I could close it if she came in. Nothing. I returned inside to check the other kitties. They were very upset.

Did you bring Mitsy?

GOOD GRIEF! Heart on the floor and then back in my chest all in the space of half a page! WELCOME BACK, MITSY!

Oh my! So sorry. It’s probably good that I couldn’t post for most of last night. It would have taken much more that a half page!:help: It took me back to the days of trying to find my Gingerbread babies. I wasn’t too worried until she vanished. That’s when the power, internet and everything else went out. :gaah:One of “ those” nights. I really need to attach catio to the back of the sunroom. It would catch any exiting kitties. If I ever finish the floor! I really want a better set up for the kitties. Building all this alone is not easy. I don’t think my , one time, helper will want to do this again. They felt terrible about Mitsy getting out even though I assured them, it wasn’t anyones’ fault. Cats just do unpredictable things sometimes. Of all the kitties here, Mitsy is the last one I would ever have expected would run out. :ohwell: :disappointed:

You’ll smile when you see what the Prince did!

OMC! I'd be a wreck after all that. You're just amazing for taking on this huge project (and doing so well on it! It's going to be gorgeous and safe!)
My mom used to call angel Rani "skunkface" because of her tikka mark. Rani was so beautiful, of course, that it wasn't taken badly by her or by me.
Mosquitos! I'm just about getting over one of their calling cards. My arm was swollen from elbow to wrist from Mon.-Thur. It was hot to the touch, too. I looked it up and it can be life-threatening (cellulitis) but I do not like doctors! or drugs! so I figured my immune system should be strong enough to throw it off. I didn't have a fever so I figured I'd be okay. Slowly, it's getting better. Mosquitos are really, really nasty!

Thank you so much! I am doing all I can for the kitties here. That floor should be very insulating as the tile is very thick. I think it’s a bright and cheerful spot for them. I managed to get all buy about 6 pieces of quarter round mounding painted with two coats. I’ll install what I can. I’m terrible at cutting angles! Lol I can reuse some pieces but other spots must have new pieces cut. I’ll do my best but I bought extra! Boo boos expected! I have to cut all with a hand saw and mitre box. @NY cat man I need tips! :)

As for your bites.... old fashioned Calamine lotion or Caladryl. It helps some and is an old remedy. I gotta say..... from the photo.....is that your arm? It is swollen black and white! Furry too! No, seriously, watch those bites. Mosquitoes are more wicked than most people know. I’m so sorry it affected you that way. How many bites did you get? If only one or two then be especially careful. Either you have a sensitivity or the ones in your area are carrying some nasty germs. No fever is a very good thing! I know you don’t like traditional medicine but it might be a good idea just to keep an antihistamine on hand. Benadryl can be a real lifesaver if you have a strong reaction. Just keeping a safety measure around. A mosquito is what gave me Malaria! In my great grand fathers time, it was yellow fever here. Those guys can just drive you crazy too. A mom medical thing I use is a mosquito net hat. You can get whole suits that protect you. They don’t totally stop bites but seriously reduce the numbers. I could not have made it through the swamp rescues without that hat! I got a really bad bite on my neck today but I am thinking it was a deer fly. I hope your arm gets well quickly. I think that your immune system should handle it or you would already have had more symptoms. :vibes:Healing vibes and prayers sent!
The photo is a purrfect picture of cat beauty! Love it!

I can tell it's very nice tile. Hope NY cat man can help -- I'd be an absolute fail at that. It's going to be a gorgeous room when it's done!

Yeah, it was cellulitis and anyone interested can look up how serious that can be. It was only one bite. We have West Nile out here. I didn't exhibit symptoms of that, thankfully, but yeah, whatever this insect was carrying definitely didn't agree with me. I don't have any drugs. I have aspirin and Vicks vaporub and sample bottles of Aleve and stuff like that, and a few expired prescription leavings that I should get rid of. Benadryl knocks me flat. But you're right, I should get a small box of it just to have on hand. Usually I used to make a poultice of a crushed aspirin and water and put that on, as it helped the itching/pain. That's what I used when the bee stung me up in the Mojave. But this time I don't know why, I didn't do anything at all most of the day. I get involved in working and I don't pay attention to anything else (except my cats, of course). I don't have those lotions, either, but guess I should get one.

A small emergency kit is a good thing. I have one for the cats! I have a few things for myself but more for them! I prefer natural remedies but sometimes a simple thing like Benadryl is useful. It knocks me out too!
I know how we can get busy and ignore what seems to be a small issue. I tend to do that too. I try to pay more attention as I get older though. We need to stay healthy for the kitties if at all possible. :)

Oh my word, what a day you had!! So happy Misty came home! I think I'm falling in love with Banjo - I'm going to go pore over his pics some more...
Yes! It was quite a night/ day! That’s why I was slow to respond about your new little guy. I think we both posted to each other at the same time! :)

Banjo is an amazing kitty. It was a very long road to rescue that litter! Mom is Mitsy and she was rescued later with another litter of kittens. Having her get lost was awful! It took over two years to convince her to let me bring her in. The kitties here were under unusual stress and danger. The fact that they ever trusted any human is a tribute to each one. They are amazing and loving creatures. Banjo had kind of a double dose of trouble with brother Whistle. They were rescued and adopted out to someone in another state. They vanished from the adopting person! Whistle was relocated but not Banjo. I ended up traveling to the house to rent rescue Banjo! It was quite a story. Again, cats are amazing. As tramstized as Banjo was, you certainly can’t tell that now. Banjo and Whistle we’re apart for weeks during this time. The reunion was a little strained until Whistle grabbed Banjo and started giving kitty kisses! Banjo was fine after that moment.

I think it might be of some use to you to follow some of the stories of the rescued cats here. I have experienced my share of stress and worry but all the kitties here have formed a family over the past years. I had to find some creative ways to cope with monetary issues as well as integrating each kitty into the family but they all watch out for each other now. I’m so glad I stuck with doing this. The support I received here on TCS was invaluable to me. Including during the time I found out that BJ has heart worms and is FIV. Also the love shown here for each kitty. The re rescue of Banjo was a time when I received huge support here. I really needed it too! :kitty:
I gathered some of our favorites shots of Banjo for you. I hope you laugh!

This one should show you that kitties do recover from trauma. This is Banjo after I went to get her from the adopting failure. She was terrified. It was a very long ride back home. When I found her she was scrunched down but recognized me and went into the carrier as though grateful to see me again.
