@maggiedemi, I have no idea - can't tell. I always guess until they are caught or I get a good look at their nono area. But I had no idea calicos are usually female so I guess it's safe to assume she is. Which makes me want to have this cat fixed soon - the kitten is more adolecent age approaching 1 year - judging from size. Also heard a fight outside so maybe SHE was fighting a tom??

The stunning calico kitten I've been feeding really loves (and prefers) wet food and raw meat. I waited until it was close to his visiting time and placed a raw chicken wing out there (my dog didn't want it). He ate it all up and some other cats came for some but there was none left. This morning, I woke up and the dry food was still outside, almost full container. I guess stray cats prefer raw meat? I'm going to have to start buying more if I want to catch calico kitty. Right now, I've made up my mind and would love to catch him and welcome him as part of the family. I see great potential in him.
Big props to you for feeding this kitten! I hope (s)he will see a vet, get spayed/neutered and innoculations, and adopted into a loving permanent home quickly! Over 2 pounds can spay/neuter.
Just be careful with the raw meat. It can contain harmful bacteria (bad for cats and for you). I know people differ in their opinions on raw diet, but that's the facts.

I had a wonderful time today at an exhibition of the sewing/craft work of local people. There were some simply stunning quilts, embroidery and other fabric handcrafts.. I'm amazed at the creativity and patience of these people.

One woman made what she calls 'flower people'. Most were fairies and other etherical folk but I found one ideal for my yoga house:

@mani how exquisite! There's a LOT of work in that. *I love the pillows, too.*

Today my DH and I finally got the nursery finished. We want the cats to get comfortable with everything before the baby gets here. Only 9 weeks to go! We've been playing baby noises here and there (crying mainly) and have had a friend with a 3 month old come over. Aico and Nacho looked into the carrier once and went on their merry way. Even though I'm exhausted and my feet are swollen, I'm satisfied that things are coming together and I'm glad we didn't wait to do things at the last minute.

Good on ya for this! Aico and Nacho are beloved family members, and just like in any family, an addition will need adapting to. *Bet you're looking forward to the big event and hopefully you'll feel better afterwards!*

The cat rescue finally got back to me! :yess:

They will be lending me a trap for FREE to catch the sick kittens. I'll be picking it up tomorrow afternoon since today I'm busy with my sister's baby shower.

I will trap the kittens and drop them off at animal services. A vet will treat the babes and spay/neuter them. If they can't be tamed, they will be returned to me. I can then foster them if I want, work on socializing and possibly finding them homes. Although, I feel like I'll end up keeping them.:bliss:

They also want me to trap the adults for spay/neuter which I already planned on doing. But all in all, things are looking promising for these street cats of mine and I cannot wait to show them a world of full bellies, unconditional love, and a warm home. :heartshape:  :cheerleader:

Oh my goodness it has been such a busy few days!Today is a rest and catch up day for hubby...he's been so busy with the honey, and he's not done yet.Tomorrow he'll go and buy his jars and we'll get busy on the bottling.I have to get his labels printed today. My positive is that it has been a banner year for him and "the girls" for honey production. They have worked so hard!As for me today...I have a five gallon bucket of sweet lime pickles perking,so I'll be canning them tomorrow afternoon.Yay!

The wicked heat has broken for now! My poor Vincie girl didn't understand why she couldn't go out. On Saturday afternoon she was crying at the slider so I went out to the deck with her. She walked down the steps to the sidewalk and immediately began licking her sweet paws so I went down, picked her up and brought her back in. Cal knows it's too hot and will only want to be on the deck early am.

They'll be able to be out for a bit today unless it rains too much. My tomatoes are looking good.

It's too hot here, too, but at least the town festival ends tonight and we'll be able to leave the windows and balcony doors open at night again without the noise keeping us up.

We got a very tiny stray poodle in at the shelter this morning. She's chipped, but her registration isn't up to date. I've just gotten word that somebody who knows her current owner saw her photo on Facebook and contacted the shelter, so she should be home soon.

Graceful-Lily Graceful-Lily Thank you! *PRAYERS* for those sweet cats. I WISH I could adopt them myself, but because I can't, I'm thinking strong thoughts of "loving forever home" for them.
Mia6 Mia6 Awww! My three never go out, as we don't have a catio; but they do love to look out the windows and lay in the windowsills when the windows are open. When it's noisy or hot, I have to shut everything up and pull shades, etc. and none of us like that. But it's better than being in a hot and/or noisy box.

I bought fruit cups for my students to have for their afternoon snack, as a birthday treat, because I know better than to give them cupcakes. But I felt like I needed to make them slightly festive...

Hope they like them. I'm not working summer school afternoon sessions, so I'm just going to relax.

That's so cute! :p

I used to hate those things as a kid but love them as an adult and buy them regularly. :yummy:

I just got back from picking up the traps. Please keep your fingers crossed for kittens to walk into them without hesitation tonight. I'm bringing out the big guns (canned sardines) so they can't say no.
