I was 15 in the summer of 1969. I remember sitting in our "TV room" with my parents watching Neil Armstrong step onto the moon.

My father was an engineer who did avionics work mostly for the Air Force. I still remember him telling me several years before the moon landing that the first thing the astronauts would do before stepping on the moon would be to activate a TV camera and transmitter so people on earth could watch it happen live.

I was twelve at the time and stayed up with the family to watch it. I'm still staggered about how they pulled it off in 1969! A momentous and wonderful journey for all humankind.
Everyone thought we'd be on Mars and beyond by 2000 due to how that took less than ten years to achieve from when JFK uttered those famous words. Ah well.
I've absolutely no patience with anyone who denies that it happened, it's an insult to the genius of all involved.
