Good morning! :wave3: And Happy Friday! :yess:

As a child, what was your favorite candy? Is it still around today? What kind of candy do you prefer now?

Me? Pretty much anything chocolate. I was a chocolate hound when I was little, I am a chocolate hound now, and I expect to be a chocolate hound for.....oh, the next 50 years or so! (In fact, Mom had suspected that I was pregnant. When they went on vacation over Easter that year, my grandmother stayed with me. Mom had a huge hollow egg on the hutch and it was filled with all kinds of little chocolate animals. She fully expected to come back to nothing much left of the egg. When she came back and saw that I hadn't even touched it, she said she knew right then and there that I was pregnant. Evidently, when she carried me, she couldn't eat chocolate. And I couldn't either.)

I always loved peanut M & Ms and continue to love them today. My favorite snack has always been a large bowl filled with peanut M & Ms and potato chips. With a Pepsi to wash it all down. My 3 P's!

Does anyone remember the old Life Saver books? My aunt and uncle used to put them in our Christmas stockings when we were kinds. I think they're still being made, but you don't get as many rolls in your book.

Chocolate malted milk balls that I would get when I went to the movies
Red Licorice

Now, still chocolate and I still like red licorice occasionally. I also like gummy bears, the original ones.

I was a chocoholic when I was a kid too. My favorite were Reese's peanut butter cups. Now I can't stand them. Hershey's changed their chocolate and it's garbage. Shame on them. I still like chocolate but it has to be high quality imported dark chocolate. I tried the Justin's dark chocolate peanut butter cups because people rave about them. They are OK. The chocolate is good but it completely overpowers the peanut butter. They are also expensive. A small bag is $5. I wouldn't buy them again

These days if I buy candy for myself it's a bar of dark chocolate or some Haribo gummy bears

I sure do remember the Life Saver books at Christmas. We got them every year. If I remember correctly, there used to be 5 rolls in a box. I haven't seen one in years.

Peanut butter cups. Usually I ate Reese's, but we used to go to a candy factory outlet in Reading, Pennsylvania that sold culls by the pound and stock up on theirs. Winchester Winchester Do you recall what candy outlet was located at the Reading VF Outlets in the 70s and 80s? Brachs?

My sister and I were insane for Butternut candy bars. We believed they were the perfect food and on occasion would buy a whole box of 24 and have one a day for a couple weeks. I also loved Walnut Crush candy bars and Walnettos

I would also get the life savers candy books for Christmas, though they weren't my favorite.

Gosh, I'm not sure what my favorites even were! I do love me some sour gummi worms, though. As a kid, I preferred the gummy and hard candy to chocolate. I guess I still do a lot of the time though I love white chocolate.

I may need to ruminate on this more.

Anything with peanut butter. But I don't eat candy or snack food much, I'd rather just have regular meals.

Reese's peanut butter cups were my favorite, but I don't eat them now. If I'm going to eat candy, I want a good hard candy to snack on.

I couldn't stand chocolate growing up. I liked hersey's milk but didn't like candy as much as I do now. I was a french fry hound. If someone took us for ice cream-I wanted a hot dog/fries. Halloween I only ate kit kats and nestle crunch.

Now I love white chocolate kit kat. And I don't remember those life saver books. But my mom used to get me life savers for my stocking. I love life savers oh and those fruit candies that are soft...Does anyone remember those red dots on paper that we used to get? I don't remember what they were called..there were those chocolate covered crunchy things too that were dark red/brown color..wish I could remember what those were called or what they were...

French burnt peanuts! I liked those too. I don't think I've seen them around lately. Must not be too popular anymore.

I don't remember any particular favorites. But I used to pick all the Crunch and Special Dark mini bars out of the Hershey assortment pack. And there were a lot of Japanese candies that I liked that aren't available in the US.

As a kid, kinder surprises, that bubble gum in a roll (don't remember what it's called), and fruit roll ups. Also, the double bubble, classic lollipops, and worthers (think I spelt that wrong) hard caramel candies. Welches fruit gummies.

Right now, I don't eat candy anymore. It makes me feel sick. Too much sugar. I also break out when I spike my blood sugar so no, thanks. My acne leaves scars so I like to not break out.

Every year, when I was a kid, my parents would go to the state fair in Syracuse ( they never took us , though). They always brought home a box of salt water taffy for us, and that was the only time we got it. Whether or not they still make, I have no idea.

Awww man, why didn't they take you? Too expensive? It's so fun there for kids. The rides are expensive, but you could have walked around and looked at the animals, that's free after you pay to get in.

Crybaby gumballs or warheads. I'd get them from the ice cream man every time he'd come around. I loved the lemon warheads!

I haven't seen crybaby around (though i haven't looked). I saw warheads a few years ago and it did not taste the same as I remember

I wasn't really allowed to eat candy as a child because I had strict parents, but whenever I spent the weekend with my grandparents they made sure I had my favorite candy fireballs to eat. I actually still eat them from time to time. They're one of my guilty pleasures.

I liked sugar! So I loved those specialty shops that sold old-fashioned candy. I can't remember what they were called...it was basically rock sugar on a stick.

Now I don't have a sweet tooth at all. Once a month for about 2 hours I FEEL like I could commit crime to get chocolate but the craving passess quckly. Black licorice is the only other candy I want every once in a while.
