We had a couple of nice days of sun but we're back to 'June Gloom' weather which has continued well into July. :cringe: Overcast and 61º. We probably won't see any sun until Saturday. :ohwell:

In store for an extended heat wave in Connecticut, heat index of 103 for Saturday. Always amazed how hot it can get in the summer and come January/February below zero for days as well.

It's 72 degrees out and it's not supposed to be any higher than 73. If it wasn't cloudy and the sun was out, it'd be a perfect day.

The heat is finally here and Theo is suffering so I set up my lousy portable A/C (don't get one) in a downstairs window. Currently 85 with high humidity and it is supposed to get worse this weekend. It will take care of my downstairs OK. I may have to sleep on the couch next few nights.

Is it a window unit? I have 2 and they work great. I keep them in case of emergency if the central AC decides to take an unscheduled break. I put a chair in front of the window and Sophie sprawls out on it, belly up!

it is a portable unit on casters so it can roll around. It has a duct that I install into a window and I have to collect the water and dump. It is not very efficient and I would not recommend one.

I remember all that humidity from my "trucking daze"---ugh!!! Humidity here in AZ is creeping upward, makes a big difference too... not so long ago, we had a run of 107-degree days, but it was still dry so it wasn't that bad. Today we're slated to hit 100 or so, but it'll feel less comfortable than it was at 107, go figure. Fortunately, the monsoon doesn't have quite as much effect at this elevation, it'll be far more miserable down in the Valley of the Sun with the higher humidity. My kittehs have a cat door anyway, they can come inside if it gets too hot, and I encourage them to do so... if only for awhile to let them cool down. :cool2:

The youngsters don't seem to mind the heat so much, but Crackhead is older & wiser and he spends the hottest time of day indoors where the A/C is blasting, LOL. As for those window units mentioned above, better to take them out and install them in nearby walls, that way you reclaim your windows and allow more light into your home. I did this with three window units in my home (no central A/C, just central heating, though I can add A/C later), and I widened all the window sills for the cats... they like the windows better without the A/C units, LOL. :yess:

It's been in the mid 90s here for a couple of weeks, and this weekend is going to be worse. The central AC runs so much sometimes that I actually feel cold. Will have to run the temp up. I haven't been able to work in the yard all this time because at 7 p.m. it's still 90. Next week it's going to be cooler and I hope to do marathon yardwork.

Stay cool, everyone.

At 7:19 AM, it's currently 63 with a high of 78 degrees today. Tomorrow is more of the same but with thunderstorms expected. Come Monday, it's heating up again with the highs being in the high 80's and low 90's.

I was listening to our local radio station while doing dishes this morning and the weather forecaster said that 2/3 of the country will be 100 degrees (F) or hotter this weekend... guess we're part of that, worse yet the monsoon has NOT kicked in so there's no afternoon rain to cool things down. Good news is the humidity isn't as high as it normally would be, but the citrus trees I planted in the yard are showing signs of solar abuse... I water 'em morning & evening in my efforts to keep 'em alive till the monsoon arrives, but the monsoon is late this year and it's lagging hard on precipitation. Hopefully we get more rain early next week, the local flora could really use it. Even the cacti are showing signs of stress, LOL. :devilish:

It was supposed to be near 100 degrees here in Upstate NY today, but my computer says it is only 88 degrees. :headscratch:

It's currently 31 C (88 F) with a humidex of 38 C (100 F) and sunny. I don't have air conditioning, so all my curtains are closed to try and keep some semblance of cool in my house. I just hope the breeze outside cools a bit this evening so I can open my windows and circulate the air. Nothing worse than a hot, moist, stale breeze when you're already hot.
