Hi guys, as some of you might know, my moggy suddenly went blind last Friday. The vet says he has to undergo an MRI. We were so scared about putting him under anaesthesia for the MRI that we postponed the MRI. It has now been scheduled for next Thursday.
I won't be able to go into the room with him when they prep him for anaesthesia. Is there anything that any of you can suggest or have done for your cats to help him be less scared and most importantly help him not feel abandoned by us as he undergoes anaesthesia?

Good to hear you got it scheduled! If Moggy doesn't have separation anxiety at a level he gets nervous when you just go to the bathroom as it happens with some cats, the chances are he won't feel abandoned. He won't not have you around for that long.

I know this is difficult for you but don't forget you are judging and seeing this situation very differently than your cat. You have all these scenarios in your head, all possibilities, you know about mortality so you fear of it, etc your cat knows none of those nor will know he will get anesthesia or anything. These things are almost always harder and more stressful for the human. (Except for the humans who don't really care but nobody on this website is like that. We are all here because we care.)

My only suggestion is to try and remain calm. Cats are soo good at picking up on our emotions. If you are frightened/panicking/upset, it is going to stress out your kitty. I know it's easier said than done, but try to keep a positive, loving, calm attitude and I think it will minimize kitty's fears.
I hope you get good news from the MRI!
