I have a seal point/siamese cat who is about 3 years old and has always been fairly skinny.

After combing for fleas, i noticed she is losing hair in certain areas. She is losing the hair around her gut and now it looks like there are patches coming off above her tail on her lower back.

This is the patch missing above her tail, which is more recent than the hair missing by her gut.

Here is a photo of her gut with the hair missing. It looks like its around the same area that was shaved when she was fixed.

It appears she has been licking this area, as her right nipple is starting to bleed.

What's even more concerning is that she has this green mark on the other side in the same area:

I'm not sure what that green area is, but it doesn't look like its normal.

I suspect she may have some sort of worm or something bothering her gut area, this is why she possibly has been licking it so often to the point of baldness. And it may also explain why she is underweight. As for the green mark, I have no idea what it could be. However, I am unsure what type of worm this may be.

If someone has experienced something similar, please kindly share what it was and how you were able to fix it. I'd hate to go to the vet and spend tons of money on something if I can fix this with stuff from a pet store.

Thanks in advance.

I don't see the green mark, but Kikii has a green mark, a tattoo they put to show she is spayed. It's just like someone marked her with a sharpie, no real specific shape to it. It's common to tattoo now so when the belly gets shaved (if kitty gets lost and found or something like that) there is an indication of past surgery. Maybe you can look to see if there is any fibers showing anywhere that could be old stitches that never dissolved but are trying to come out? I have never seen ringworm in cats either, but from what I understand it can make them lose patches of hair.

Ok that probably explains the green mark (links to photos are in the post above yours).

In regards to ring worm and the balding in the areas, she lives with other cats, who do not experience this. Granted, this cat is the only skinny one.

What else could be causing her to lick her gut area to the point of baldness like this? The area above the tale that is missing hair seems to be skaly and tough.

There is something here on TheCatSite:
Does this look like ringworm?
It's actually about a person, but they mention meds for it, if it were to be ringworm.
As for skinny cats, Kikii is much thinner than my other cats, but she was pretty severe when I first adopted her. Now I would call her svelte. Still tiny but she's very active and energetic. I never had chubby cats before the ones I have now, so I let their chubilicious get out of hand. If your kitty has shiny fur and sparkly eyes and seems happy and energetic then I would venture to say her weight is normal for her. There are over the counter worming meds, so if you opt to use them follow directions closely. I have not used over the counter wormers. I am not a veterinarian so I can't advise what to do. Do you have any low cost spay/neuter clinics near you? Maybe they could do pet exams too. Or call the Humane Society near you and see if they suggest options? Apologies if this is not helpful, I understand what it is to not have funds for veterinarian expenses. I have used the internet many times myself, at least to decide if I should just make an appointment anyway. There are Nurse Lines for people, I wonder if there are Vet Lines for pets.

I'd check with a vet. It doesn't look like ringworm at all to me but overgrooming can be a stress response. That stress can be due to physical causes or environmental causes so it's best to have a vet check her out to rule all that out. I don't see scaliness by her tail but if she is scaly maybe she does have some sort of skin condition. If she has fleas (you mentioned flea combing) then it could be an allergy or anxiety response to the fleas.

Regardless of what the cause of this is, I definitely recommend dewormer at the least when the weather is warm. Prescription ones. Things like Profender's effect last for 2-3 months. Is she also up to date on flea medicine?

Flea allergy is common and all it takes is a flea bite. No flea treatment prevents all fleas to not land on the cat. They just kill the flea if it lands and bites. It's common they get itchy extra on the base of their tail and tummy.

Ringworm causes hair loss too but personally I have never seen it only with a hair loss without any redness, scaly patch, etc

Also check for other possible allergens. Cats can be allergic to pretty much everything humans can get allergic to including pollen and dust mite. Itchiness from allergic reaction leads to hair loss. Or if anything changed like her food.
