My Feral And Rescued Cats

tarasgirl06 So far, no Prince cats have shown up with a glass slipper for Banjo! I guess kissing through the window didn’t work. Maybe next time!

rubysmama We have frogs everywhere here. Since I have swamp nearby, I get the best on mature. Wild orchids, violets, wild Iris, Flying squirrels, Pileated woodpeckers, king fishers, egrets, a Fox or two, Blue Birds, hummingbirds and so much more. I once had a bullfrog jump into the open door! That was a real frog chase! They are big and jump about 4 to 6 feet in one hop! It was a mad house trying to get that one. He and the kitties knocked over everything! I think some of the kitties were running FROM that frog.
The tree frog that visits Banjo gets right beside her on that door frame! Others have gotten there but we’re frightened by the kitties and stay up high. The one in the photos seems to be curious about Banjo and she just loves him. An odd couple for sure! Lol

The love story continues! I was talking to Banjo about the frog and this happened. Lol

Banjo! What will you do if the frog is your Prince?

Froggy is only for me! ( Funny thing. The frog arrived!)

And he descended to the glass next to Banjo.

The story of Banjo and the Froggy Prince continues. Love is sweet wherever you find it. I guess Banjo has adopted a feral frog! Kitties do the most amazing things!

Demi prefers toads for friends. I already told you what he does to frogs.

I've never seen a flying squirrel in real life. I bet they are really cool.

M maggiedemi Maybe Demi doesn’t need a Prince cat running around! Lol

surya The flying squirrels are precious. They are tiny. Fit in your hand! They have bi, sweet eyes too! I love the little ones but they do their gliding mostly at dusk to dark. You really have to watch for them. They swoop between tree branches and are very private creatures. If you ever see one, you’ll love them forever.

What a wonderful story and I hope it continues for a long time!
I say something along those lines when people start in on who they think "should" love who(m) -- Love is pretty amazing and actually fairly rare, and wherever it's found, it should certainly be celebrated, not criticized! Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it

Well, it's kind of embarrassing, because he wants to get amorous with her, and sometimes she lets him "assume the position" but usually he bites her too hard or something, and she turns around and whaps him. She'll also tell him off. He seems bemused, like, "I thought you loved me!" or even "How could any lady refuse ME, ELVIS, The KING?!!" Then he gets his "woebegone" look. I tell him he's the man of MY dreams and that even though we're different species, he's definitely "the one for me" -- but alas, he pines for his true love in her coat of many colors.

dustydiamond1 I did reply to the thread. I have had severe heat here before. It’s tough on the kitties. I suggested ice bags and also a form of evaporative cooler. My ferals would lay on ziplock bags filled with ice and wrapped in a towel. Smart kitties! I hope Moonstonewolf can cool things off there. Sorry I got delayed. I was actually writing a post when I had to stop for a kitty emergency.

It’s been a busy day again here but earlier I took a break to enjoy the yard. I was sitting on my porch and writing a post when I discovered a friend in the yard! Not exactly a cat Prince for Banjo but very cute. This is a young one!

My old eyes saw movement. Lol
I got closer and realized....

Someone is eating in my yard!

A baby Armadillo!

He was so engrossed in eating something yummy, he didn’t notice I was approaching.

Ha! Get your head out of the hole little fella! I want a photo of your face!

I got within a few feet. Lol

Well! Hello human!


After that nice visit with the Armadillo, I came back inside to finish my post and start getting ready to put the tiles in the cat room. As I was writing, I heard a scream behind me! I turned in time to see that Muffin was hurt. I’m not sure how she did it but she must have jumped up wrong or landed wrong. She was holding her back foot up and would not let me look. I grabbed a carrier and she crawled inside. (This is why I use the carriers as sanctuaries for the kitties! They always go there if anything goes wrong. ) I took Muffin into the bathroom and called the vet. They had already closed for the day. I left a message that Muffin was hurt, please call me! I sat with Muffin until the vet called. We went through a check on her and I was able to determine that there did not SEEM to be broken or dislocated bones. Of course we can’t be totally sure. Since I keep a good supply of kitty medicine here from our vet, we went through the supplies and the vet told me what I could do for Muffin tonight. Keep her quiet and still, give her pain medicine and watch her until morning. I am to get her in for an exam if she is still limping tomorrow. After the call ended I got a pain pill out to give Muffin. The vet did tell me not to grasp her tightly to get the pill in her. No problem! Lol I put the pill in front of her on my palm and she ate it! She just licked it up! Good girl Muffin! I guess she knew it would help. She got her favorite food after that and Mom is giving lots of love. The other kitties are concerned too. The kitties surrounded her after she screamed. Lady even licked her face. That’s not a common behavior between Lady and Muffin. I love how the kitties protect and comfort each other.

I stayed with Muffin until she seemed to feel better. She is putting her weight back on her foot now. Walking around if I go back in with her so I’ll be letting her rest. She has her carrier there along with a soft towel to lay on and her favorite food.

Worried family waiting for me to come out.

I think she will be but we’ll know more tomorrow.

The kitties immediately bowed their heads! A moment of concern and respect for Muffin.

The house is very quiet tonight. Cats are amazing and compassionate creatures. Every cat in the house is staying still and subdued. BJ has gone to the bathroom door and asked to go in with Muffin. I’ll let him sniff her a bit before bed if she seems to want him in. Perhaps he can comfort her and report back to the other kitties. There is a lot of love here for Muffin.

If love can heal, she’ll be just fine.

How is Muffin's leg this morning? I have to say I enjoyed all her photos. I didn't know she was a cuddler.
