Apparently I'm a few days late for French Fry Day:

The official fast food french fry power rankings

It's never a bad time to talk about French Fries though.

Do you like them? What's your favorite kind? Do you agree with the article on the best ones?

I do enjoy French Fries, a little too much. My preference are the average size (not steak fries or shoestring) and I like the ones with a crispy exterior.

Most of the chains mentioned in the article are not around here, but I have had the Five Guys fries and enjoyed them. McDonald's fries when they are hot are good as well.

I love fries, way too much. Yum. I've never had Five Guys. McD's fries are good, if they're fresh and hot. I do love Wendy's a lot, but not Burger King. Not a fan of Arby's at all; they may "have the meats," but they don't have the fries. We started making our own in the air fryer and they're really good.

I slather malt vinegar over my air-fried fries and then dip them in ketchup. Just a very light sprinkling of sea salt. I'm good.

A couple weeks ago, I was so hungry for some Ore-Ida crinkle cuts. We were at the store and bought a bag. You know, they were just okay. Just. That was a bummer.

I love fries! But we don't have most of the places listed in the article where I'm from, so I can't comment on them. Any great fry is fresh cut and double fried IMO and I do prefer a regular sized fry. Sometimes when the fries are too thick the potato inside is almost pasty and dry (with frozen fries).
If I have a real craving for good fries, I go to my local chip stand.

I approve of Steak 'n Shake's rating for sure. It's been a while, but I get their cheese fries when I go.

I don't eat ketchup, so I usually do salt and vinegar on my chips. Or maybe barbecue sauce.

I like Five Guys but the closest one is about 8 miles away. For me, there is nothing tastier than McDonald's fries when they are so hot your fingers are kind of burning when you eat them.I like to eat them in the car with an ice cold medium coke.

I love most fries as long as they are crispy, except for McDonalds since they use beef flavoring. I dip in ketchup or hot sauce.

I'm a pig when it comes to fries. Sometimes, I'll dump the whole bag into the deep fryer and eat the whole thing all on my own.

I love potatoes in all shapes and forms but I love the frozen bag fries from Cavendish Farms. There are a lot of varieties. Also, poutine from Harvey's.

Didn't McDonald's remove the beef flavoring from their fries? I tried Googling and only came up with PETA web sites which I am not clicking the link to :headshake:

Ore-Ida fries are just meh :ohwell: The crispy ones never get crispy enough.

Alexia makes good sweet potato fries and puffs. I buy those once in awhile.

I don't think they removed it. If they did, please let me know, I will start eating them again.
“The most famous example of hidden beef flavoring is McDonald's french fries. For decades, McDonald's french fries were cooked in a combination of cottonseed oil and beef tallow. This made them delicious, but also laden with saturated fat. In 1990, McDonald's bowed to public pressure and switched to frying its potatoes in pure vegetable oil. But to keep the delicious meat flavor without the cholesterol, McDonald's added beef flavor to its fries — simply listing "natural flavors" on its ingredients list.

In 2001, the corporation was sued over the beef flavoring, with consumers who refrain from eating meat for moral, religious, or health reasons claiming that were misled into thinking the fries were vegetarian. McDonald's beef flavoring is apparently not vegetarian (fine print on the McD's site notes that its natural beef flavoring contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as its starters), and the suit settled in 2002. McDonald's has since added a section to its website clarifying that its fries are neither vegetarian nor vegan-certified. But natural beef flavor still stealthily pops up on McDonald's menus: Notably, in its soon-to-be-served-all-day breakfast hash browns.”

I like Meijer steak fries and tater tots. I dump a whole bag on a cookie sheet and bake them and I have fries for a couple days. I don't add salt or oil, I just dip them in ketchup when I eat them.

I love french fries (or chips as we call them here in England), and my favourites are McDonald's or cheesy fries. I also love potato wedges, though, and my mother also makes sweet potato fries which are delicious.

French fries are just not very diabetic friendly so it has been years since I had more than a couple at a time. But McDonalds are the ones I like the best, especially when right from the fryer.

Really? I hope this applies to the UK as the sausage egg McMuffin breakfast is the best thing they do, so tasty.
I googled and it looks like they started the all-day breakfast in the US in 2015. I don't think it's been in my area for that long. A recent article says they are paring down the all-day breakfast options because it gets overwhelming for the franchises.

The sausage burritos are my guilty breakfast pleasure.

Okay, I'm totally in Mcdonald's right now trying the limited edition Australian cheese bacon fries. Yum. Thanks for the inspiration.

I don't eat at restaurants these days, but my favorite restaurant fries come from a small Armenian restaurant here in town -- nothing fancy, just nice, clean, and well seasoned. I like to dip them in the barbeque sauce they have. But though fries are not a regular dietary item for me, I do sometimes make my own, which I like.
