A bit late in the day, but earlier today, groceries, figuring out recipes for upcoming events and making a specific list of things I still need (like trader joe's sour cherries :yummy: - what a great excuse to get some more cookie butter LOL), some latchhooking, and now making supper - that's four things, sort of

Not much going on today for me. Rick will be working outside; he's up at the back property line, digging out weeds and sawing branches from trees (and trying to stay away from the poison ivy). We lost several Colorado blue spruce trees last year during some bad t-storms and down-drafts and the spaces are being invaded with brush. He's trying to clear it all out, plant grass, and then we can easily mow it and keep it clean. Unfortunately, cleaning it out it has really killed any privacy that we had in that area.

Put some laundry in so the dryer won't be running when it's wicked hot. Ate some cherries, can't get enough of them!

Some mornings, one should just stay in bed. I got out of bed, went into the bathroom and heard puking out in the hallway; Tabby puked up a hairball. Cleaned it up. Went back into the bedroom, walked around the foot of the bad and walked into puke. Cleaned that up and cleaned my foot (not in that order; I'm sure it was funny to see me hopping to the bathroom on one foot). Came out of the bathroom, just in time to see Muffin puking up a hairball. Cleaned that up. Later on, after the kids had breakfast, Mollipop puked some of her breakfast up....in the cardboard center of their Turbo toy. Cleaned that up and replaced the cardboard center. :sigh:
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked 3 miles, took Molli on a "basement tour". Every once in a while, she likes to tour the basement. She'll walk down to the door and start crying. That's my cue. I pick her up and away we go. "This is the washer" and she leans over and sniffs, "This is the dryer" followed by a sniff, "Here's the water softener" and more sniffing. And so on, til we've gotten through the basement. Then I asked her if she's ready to go upstairs, she meows a "Yes" and we go upstairs. I drop her off on the back of the couch and she zooms out to the kitchen to tell Dad all about her tour. (I used to do the same thing with Banshee when she was alive, except we would go outside. "Here's a maple tree" and sniff, "Here's the weeping cherry" and sniff, and so on. Every day rain, shine, or even light snow. We had an umbrella for rain and she even had her own blankie for when it was snowing.)
  • Sorted three piles of laundry for tonight and got ready for work

so far today, i've had a bagel with cream cheese, and have done some printing.

i'll wash the dishes, scoop the litter boxes, and make 1 or 2 liters of soda.

after that, i'll play some computer games, continue with a jigsaw puzzle, and watch some tv.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
slow day yesterday=too humid.

water the backyard pots of plants
cut and make tuna salad and seafood salad
mix fertilizer for the tomatoes-a quick watering first.

this morning,
water the butterfly bush-it's not growing as well this year-I haven't given it much water this year. Gave it a good 15 min water gushing.
Took pictures of more plants/tomatoes.
Work.

Tonight supposed to rain-so will be out there pulling weeds in the rain-it's been so stinking hot that the rain will feel good.

Rick got up at 3:00 to go into work for a vote, so I just got up and fed the cats and then hung out on the computer for a while. He's already back home. I'll be going home at noon as the county is shutting down for the afternoon today.
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked 3.5 miles, and got ready for work. I didn't pack any lunch today, since I'm leaving at noon.
  • Probably mow the yard this afternoon
  • I'd like to hit Best Buy and Lowes tonight, but I don't know how Rick will feel since he was up so early (although he's probably already snoring away on the couch).

Mia6 Mia6 New phone! Nice!
foxxycat foxxycat I've done that, done yard work in the rain. It feels good, especially after all the heat and humidity.

Rick tore back into the Colorado blue spruce trees Friday afternoon. That's been his latest project. He's removing old, lower branches, ripping up weeds and their roots, and then he's going to plant grass. It looks so good. But man, late afternoon, he set fire to the brush. I have no idea what that man was burning, but it was rank. And I do mean rank. He had one heckuva bonfire going and it smelled terrible; even one of the neighbors came over and said, "Rick, what the hell are you burning?" It finally calmed down.

There's a lot of poison up there, too, and he's been ripping that out, digging the roots out, and putting that in bags for disposal (never, ever burn poison).
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my morning coffee. Must scoop the boxes.
  • Didn't make it to Lowes last night, so going this morning and to Best Buy: Lowes for insulation and Best Buy for a LinkSys Switch. I think I can get by with a 5-port switch. I also need 100 feet of cat 6 cable. We're also hitting a local building shop for hardwood for the vaulted ceiling in the McShed.
  • I need to mow lawn this afternoon; didn't get it done yesterday.

Busy day for you. How much longer till you can "move in" to the McShed?
Yes, I finally have a smart phone, an Android. It's difficult to use as I am not used to them. Can't even take a pic. But I'm learning.

We finally bought the wall insulation yesterday, so we can start insulating. We looked at the type of wooden ceiling Rick wants to use at the vault. I think it's going to look nice when that's done. A lot of our time is spent waiting. Now we're waiting on our neighbor to come in and dig the trench for the underground cables. My hope is to get it done enough that I can move my office plants in there before cold weather hits. Work around here tends to get done v-e-r-y slowly.

Fortunately, our electric company has a rebate on the type of insulation we bought. It amounts to a 75% rebate on each roll (to a max of $450) of insulation, so that will help. I'll take the receipt into work to make a copy, then fill out the paperwork. 75% per roll is nothing to take lightly. I always look for rebates and such.
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my morning coffee. Rick stripped the bed and put the sheets in the washer. I need to scoop the boxes
  • Work on a bit of a grocery list. The only thing we really need is cat food, but I'll see what's on sale and what coupons I have.
  • Finish the lawn this afternoon while Rick is working on the back property line
  • Visit with Rick's mother tonight. She just loves that Kindle Fire!

Spending the day on a new project. Found this wonderful 100 year old side table in a “free” curbside pile and I started stripping it yesterday. It does have a top, I just took it off to strip. I have been looking for a small table for my dining room for the last year and this will be perfect.

Winchester Winchester -- that's great, that 75% rebate on the insulation for your McShed! very well done!!!

when i was a kid (maybe 8 or 9 years old), i saw first hand the effects of burning poison and inhaling the fumes. :fear: my dad burned some poison ivy. he was laid up for (from what i remember) quite a while, and the doctor came out to see/treat him -- we lived in a rural area, so that was a very big deal. i have a 'snapshot' memory, of my dad lying in bed, not moving (likely sedated).

today i've made 2 liters of root beer, and have scooped the litter boxes. i'll wash the dishes. and i'll move some cold cuts, dessert servings, and some dinner servings to the fridge to thaw.

after that, i'll play some computer games, continue with a jigsaw puzzle, and watch some tv.
