I'm currently feeding my cat blue buffalo and trying a few more brands. So far she seems to like tiki cat as well. I planned to rotate between two brands just in case one went under a recall so I knew she'd still have one she liked. But the lady at the pet store said it's bad to do that. My question is is it really that bad?

It's fine to rotate between a few different brands :agree: Ignore the pet store person. They usually mean well but often pass along incorrect information.

I changed all four of my cats food every bag and every can lol. Never had a problem. Just keep it high quality meat based food and you should be good

Rotation is good as long as your cat’s GI tract agrees. If something gets discontinued, ingredients change, or there is a shortage (this last one happened to me during hurricane season two years ago) you have options. I feed the same thing most mornings but rotate through about five brands for the evening meal.

I rotate several brands, both so he doesn’t get bored and so I can make sure that he is getting nutrients from a wide variety of proteins, different moisture levels etc.

It’s not bad at all.

I find that most pet store workers know very little about animals. :)

I find that to be true with chain pet stores. The local independent pet store I go to have employees who really care about animals and are pretty knowledgeable.

I agree they’re usually more knowledgeable than the chain ones but I’ve gotten some pretty bad advice from the independent shops too. I guess it’s always good to be reminded that just because you work at a pet store doesn’t mean you’re an expert on pets.
