Hi, I was bitten about 6 weeks ago by an 8-12 week old feral kitten. She was very weak and covered in fleas. I brought her in to bathe her and get the fleas off and that's when I got bit. She died that night. My wound healed on it's own in a few days. A friend of mine now has me worried I have rabies because I have had some tingling in my arms. I am so upset I don't know what to do. I thought the kitten died from flea anemia. Can anyone help put my mind at ease?

Do you have an Urgent Care type place (it's like an emergency room, but for situations like this , and usually the cost is less.) I'd get there in the near future, just to be sure.
I'm sorry you got bitten trying to save and help her, and I'm sorry she didn't survive.
Hopefully it all works out and nothing is wrong, after all.

I would get to an emergency room right away, just for your peace of mind. Have you had any other symptoms? Let us know how you are doing.

You are probably right that the kitten died from flea anemia and/or other problems from being a sick feral kitten. Depending on where you live, rabies might be unheard of in your area or more of a possibility. While I personally think it is unlikely, it would be best to get checked out by a doctor to be sure.

The only way to tell for sure is to have the kitten's body tested for rabies. If you don't have the body, then you should probably contact your doctor to find out where you can get the preventive rabies shots.

If you live in the US, the chances are very low. But because she died, it is something to consider. Talk to your doctor, it's not an emergency room kind of thing but get in as soon as you can. They have the information about rabies rates in your area and can decide whether you need rabies shots or not.
