Dear friends living 900 ft. from the river outside of New Orleans had to evacuate for Katrina and Rita. They took their indoor cats but had to leave their free-roaming cats. When they finally got clearance to return weeks later, EVERY ONE of their outdoor cats turned up safe. This has to be a miracle.

Been using Kitty Tube here in AZ since Dec. '17. Its when we began feeding feral about then & he used it in winter more. In hot AZ 100+ summers he avoids it unless at night, I think , tho can't see him as its out of view unless I go out that far & it can startle him off. It is well made, & for cool weather it is good in winters back east I bet.

Great! Thank you. Excellent shelters here! A huge variety and something for everyone. I especially like the solid wood raised shelters for storm areas. Heavy duty to resist rain, snow and wind. These may be something people could add later but there are some shelters that could quickly be provided too. I’m sure these will save many kitties and I’ll pass the link on. :yess:

That was definitely a miracle that all the kitties survived Katrina and Rita. I am grateful that they did.

Thankfully, once Florence was over, ALL of our ferals returned safe and sound, including the younger kittens! I was sure that the kittens wouldn't make it, but they did.

Barry isn't going to be a tremendously powerful storm, but in that area, destruction is going to be more about rainfall. New Orleans sits below sea level.

Yes. I remember that storm and all that happened. It was a hard time for a great many of our friends and kitties. I was very thankful for the safety of all. ;)

The storm has sent the first edges in early here. It will probably be hard to get posts out as the storm gets closer so posting early! Be safe everyone. Our hearts are with you.:redheartpump:

Manassas Virginia is bringing rescues in from the storm. I am sure other places are as well. If anyone has access to threads here, Facebook and other sites. Please encourage rescues from the storm. There will be large numbers being moved. It has already started and will continue long after the storm has passed. Save a kitty if you can!

You guys might appreciate this little story of the universe doing its thing, but I had written the tnr I got Lelia from to see just how close to the cancer causing factory Lelia was found as a kitten, and within a day, the tnr heard from the person who had initially found Lelia and I suppose her siblings because I was told where the kittens plural were found, and she had just found another mom and kittens who have now been rescued and are being fostered.

The universe does some amazing things! Your timing on the contact was Purrfection! I’m glad the other Mom and babies were found and rescued. One more family safe! :yess: Thank you for that universally good news! :)

Wonderful, Lari Lari , and thank you for sharing that with us! Good news is always very much appreciated by me and, I'm sure, others.
Jcatbird Jcatbird Don't have to worry about you as you are extremely well guarded! :winkcat:
Seriously, I am sure Alley Cat Allies and Best Friends Animal Society will have personnel in place doing rescue, as they always do in disasters. And The Animal Rescue Site is already posting for donations to help those in need. So those are three places to go to find out what is being done and how to help.:yess:

Thank you for telling us all where to go to help!

As always, rescuers rock! Thank goodness those groups are out there doing such great work! We don’t always get to see the work done by so many people but during storm rescues these things tend to be publicized more. I am starting to see some information on news and weather channels. I’m grateful for the news agencies who put these rescues out nationally to raise awareness. I hope they will continue and increase this coverage. Supporting these groups with help is crucial for their good work to continue. Adoptions are crucial too. :petcat:

STAY SAFE, @jacatbird! Although with all of those very able guards, I'm sure you will! And I am especially pleased that the Sacred Heating Pad will not be in any danger.
:flail: The Sacred Heating pad is guarded by all! We couldn’t survive here without it. It’s always a question of , who gets it next? It’s a “shared “ experience. I actually bought a second one but somehow that didn’t mean more time for me. :dunno: I guess that since the kitties work so hard, they need it for relaxing aching muscles. :catman:

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 I think four paws can easily snag two pads! Maybe if I had as many heating pads as litter boxes?
Back in the wonderful days (pre-February 19 of this year) of Drs. Foster & Smith, they had these wonderful pads that conducted the cat's own heat back onto the cat. We have one. It's cheetah print and fleecy and wonderful.

Did they go out of business?
Petco bought the company a few years back but it was still in business and was the primary source of jobs for people in the small WI community it was in. But on Feb. 19th, it was closed down. Really disappointing, as I had been a customer since before they were online, as were many others. They had top quality products including food, treats, toys, cat furniture, catnip, etc. at great prices. I'm now having to pay over 3x as much for a case of food of a similar quality because their brand is no longer produced. And those great cat beds? Nope.:bawling:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 That sounds like a wonderful pad. Fleecy is always nice!

I’m back to trying to do some maintenance on the house but just little things today. Lol New caulking inside. I can’t do anything outside right now. The water has increased the mosquitos. We’ve got West Nile reports here so.... back to long sleeves and DEET. I think the mosquitos enjoy the repellents! Perfume! :D

The kitties managed to stay out of the caulking so far. It’s just not as much fun as paint.

I did find Banjo last night. She was exactly where I thought she would be. She was waiting for her Prince! :kitty:

And yes, Banjo, if you kiss your beloved he will undoubtedly turn into the most handsome of cat princes! ;)
Hoping all there have a good evening/night and that the weather lets up soon.
