Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Are you referring to Camp LeJeune? I was born there; Dad was in the Marines. So when I'm talking about the "base" I'm talking about Camp LeJeune. I'd love to see your little pigs in the blankets!

Leftovers tonight. Hamburgers, crock pot beans, potato salad (gosh, I do love potato salad, but I wish I could make it like Mom did), pickled eggs. And more cake. That cake is seriously good. It's from Mom; she had that recipe for years. Hot milk sponge. Mmmmmm

I love leftovers!

Could you post the cake recipe when you're not busy?

It's hot, it's humid, it's summer. 93 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday. Better today but we just got a spit of rain that did nothing but increase the humidity. Feh!

Made tuna and elbow macaroni for tonight's dinner, embellished with sliced black olives, capers, green peas, and diced celery.

Out of ice cream and don't know when I can get to the store so I made some butterscotch pudding for afters - butter, brown sugar, corn starch, milk, eggs, splash of vanilla. Should keep him happy.

Nope...that's a few miles away. Cherry Point Marine Air Base is here in Havelock. In fact, I used to live literally 600 yards off the end of the main runway. The planes came in so low I could wave at the pilots as they went back to base. LOL, I actually recognized one when I was out one day! He said, "OH! You're the waving lady!" and admitted that occasionally a plane would land with pine needles in the undercarriage.

As soon as I manage to remember to order the mold, I'll post pics! You use those little cocktail sausages in them...

Tonight, I'm wiped out. In fact, I'm not "really" here...just spotted the tag in my emails. I'm going to do something very simple. I picked up deli roast beef, so probably a sandwich. I'm running on just a couple of hours of sleep. Not hungry, but if I don't eat, I'm gonna pay.

Tomorrow night, Suzanne and I are having a movie night. We're ordering a pizza from Pizza Hut, and watching "Bell, Book and Candle" with Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak. I LOVE that movie. For those not familiar, it's a 50's movie about a witch who falls in love with her neighbor. Every watch "Bewitched?" The dotty aunt? That character is directly taken from a character in "Bell, Book and Candle." FUN MOVIE! Nothing creepy about it.

there is also this bottle of Blackberry Merlot...SHHHHHHH!

I love that movie too. Good choice!

I made a veggie bowl - long grain rice, stewed tomatoes, red peppers and, since I was out of avocado and green onions, I added a garbanzo cake instead. Finished the ice cream last night so honey crisp apple and red seedless grapes for dessert.

I love, BB&C !!! I have the DVD, and play it occasionally.. It is a hoot.. If I remember correctly, the same actress played the same character in BB&C and Bewitched: Aunt Clara, in Bewitched.

Although I agree with you that BB&C is an excellent and entertaining movie I don't think Marion Lorne, (Aunt Clara), was in the cast. However, the tv show, Bewitched, was partially based on BBB&C along with the movie, I Married A Witch. And I learned that Aunt Clara had a door knob collection in real life.

Back on topic, invited to the neighbors for dinner tonight so not sure what we're having but she's an excellent cook so I'm looking forward to it.

I know, it's going to hit 90F today and I'm going to use the oven :eek3: :paperbag: Brown sugar garlic chicken again. I have corn to steam. The corn isn't all that sweet yet. Maybe in a few more weeks.

Well, movie night has been delayed until Wednesday, so...how about a ham and Swiss sandwich? Cool, easy, and fast! That sounds even better than a hot dog on this steamy day!

No, although I thought that at first. Aunt Queenie is played by Elsa Lancaster, Aunt Clara by Marion Lorne. They do resemble each other a bit, or at least, in the movie and TV show they do...possibly because the characters are so similar! Isn't Google a wonderful thing?

I took one of my frozen homemade black bean burgers out of the freezer, so it's gonna be a veggie burger tonight.
I love a good black bean burger. I'm not a fan of veggie burgers that claim to taste like meat. They never do. I want my veggie burger to taste like what it is. Veggies. Morningstar Farms makes a great spicy black bean burger. I had to twist DD's arm to get her to try one and she loved it.

I've never had any Morningstar Farms products, and I was about to say they don't sell them in Canada, but I think I might have seen them in one of the grocery stores. Must make a point to look next time I'm out.

I love black bean burgers too. I have a couple recipes I make and like both of them. So funny, though, until I became vegetarian, I'd never even had a black bean, and now they're one of my favourite foods.
