It is well and truly summer! I hate hot weather, I truly do. So, pretty pretty please,

Give me your best tips to beat the heat!

I carry those individual little alcohol pads in my purse. If I start to get badly over heated, I take one out and wipe my inner wrists, the nape of my neck, and my forehead. I'm instantly cooler from the rapid evaporation!

Air conditioning. I live in Florida. It's hot most of the year. Housing without AC is unheard of. I have central AC and a window unit in my room. If you don't have central AC I recommend a window unit at least for the bedroom. My room is like a meat locker. A light, fluffy blanket and some kitties makes it perfect. Plenty of iced tea and flavored seltzer helps too. We always have ceiling fans going but more for air circulation than anything else

Fans just blow the hot air around. They are useless.

I never complain about the heat. I'll take that over the cold and snow of winter any day.

I hate heat. I wish it were 30°F to 60°F year round. I'm better able to handle heat after I lost weight, but I still need an air conditioner. Humidity is really the issue so the A.C. is handy for that too.
In the event I don't have an AC I just drink a lot of very cold water or I'll take a hot shower.

AC, shower without drying off, sleep with little on, if outside I keep a bottle of cold water and squirt myself often, and keep hydrated by drinking H2O, lemonade, iced tea.

I love the heat. I was cold the other day at 79 degrees! 85 is perfect for me.
If it gets higher than 85, I open a window, turn on fan or window air conditioner. Also drink lots of water and sleep with only a top sheet covering me. And take a colder shower, or rinse with colder water at end of shower. Daily showers are a must!

We're among the 96% of German households that don't have AC. That means opening the windows and balcony doors at night and using an oscillating fan (usually with Mowgli right in front of it ) in the bedroom. During the day everything is closed up, including the shutters, to keep the cooler air inside.

It's currently 94°F (34°C) - and rising - outside and 77°F (25°C) inside.

I didn't realize Germany had such hot temps.

I'm with ya there, Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 ! I hate heat! It's awful.

Gel ice packs, but keep them away from cats... the blue stuff is toxic.
Also we use fans, and a portable A/C for the main room.

I don't mind the heat as much as I mind the humidity. And right now, you can cut the air with a knife. I put the fan in the bedroom window last night. It was bad.

I wear my hair off my neck
We drink a lot of iced water
When it gets really bad, I hit the pool

i try to get things i need to do done each day, during the cooler parts of the day/night in the hot weather months. i also try to get firewood stacked before the hot weather sets in, preferably finished stacking by the end of May.

if the outside temperature gets too hot during the daytime and continues for a period of time, i have no problem with switching my sleep times around so my cats can have some fresh air during the coolest part of each day, nighttime.

I stay inside with the air conditioning, since I live in an apartment I don't have to work outside. I had heard a prediction that Europe was in for a record breaking heat wave this summer. I lived in Germany for 5 years and I don't believe it ever got in the 90's while I was there.

If you get seriously overheated, get in the shower and let cool water run over your head. The scalp has lots of blood vessels, and the cool water will cool your blood down instantly.

I have an air conditioned house. So I go out in the morning and evening to do yard work and chase the shade around the house. When it get stifling hot, I don't go out.

I carry two bottles of water with me when I have a busy day in the heat. If I don't have a busy day, I have one large bottle that I can refill.
I also have a portable fan that I make sure to carry around with me, and suncream.

I like heat. Humidity is a problem because it causes me to swell up horribly. It also makes me feel trapped. Strange, I know, but I cannot think of a better way to explain it. If it is not humid, it has to be well into the 90s before I am uncomfortable. I do not wear shorts and always carry a sweater.

When I do get hot, cool showers and cold drinks usually help me. Ice water and refrigerated pop, which I do not drink often, make me cold, and something like a milkshake can make me shiver for an hour! We do have air conditioners in the bedrooms and the living room.

Adjust the air conditioner until you see ice cubes shooting out the vent.
Wear loose fitting clothes, not baggy or tight. Light colors.
If you keep your bathroom door shut at all times, run the overhead vent if you have one often to keep it from getting humid from all the water sources.
If you know of someone who has a pool, help yourself. When they shout at you, blink several times, look around acting surprised, then say in disgust "oh, damn. I must have been sleep walking again" :D ;)
