Went back to my chiropractor today because the shoulder muscles have been overcompensating so much they were starting to seriously cramp and charleyhorse like crazy. Said it before and I'll say it again. That man has magic hands.

Tonight I used Epsom salts with a lavender essential oil blend (Chill Pill blend from Aura Cacia) to help with the initial discomfort from really tight muscles being adjusted back into place. I'm finally feeling normal and that side is finally feeling relaxed for the first time in a very long time.

We had some massive flooding at my new place yesterday and the bottom of the driveway where it greets the road has about a six inch deep by 8 foot wide hole now where it washed out a bunch of gravel. I'm being safe and not attempting to fix that myself until July after the six week mark of this injury. I have no intention to waste my chiropractor's work.

Moral of the saga: Injured ribs HURT and Urgent Care does nothing for them.

So I just saw my first hummer of the season drinking from the feeder! He was making the sweetest chirping sounds..sooo adorable. Also, my landlord gave me an unfortunate cushion, (the 60s called, they want their chair cushion back), for the deck. He knows how much I love being there and it was so sweet of him that I can't not have it out there. He flips houses and finds all sorts of stuff. Well, a few days ago I discovered that butterflies are attracted to it so now I'm getting all kinds of them visiting the cushion!

Ah, I keep forgetting that a lot of people can't buy CBD over-the-counter like here in Arkansas. I have found it works well for nausea.
I was taking Prochlorperazine for nausea for years but my doctor recently took me off it because he said I was having to many side effects. I will try to get CBD over the counter to see if it really works for me. Being nausea all the time is an awful feeling.

I just got over a cracked rib. Nothing to do but wrap it tight and try not to overdo it.
Ouch! Yeah, rib injuries are the worst. Mine is relatively mild and this is the first week since June 6 I haven't been in constant pain. Ergh.

I have an essential oil blend I use for my migraines called Tei Fu oil. It's lavender, camphor, wintergreen, peppermint, cinnamon, and clove essential oils--basically, in a pinch you could use Vicks Vapor Rub (and I have). It's been working really well on the muscle pain, just make sure you use a cotton swab to apply it so that you don't get it on your fingers. It's a bit like trying to get jalapeño pepper juice off your fingers otherwise--you think you do, then you go to rub your eye a few hours later and NOPE.

I take lobster showers and believe it or not, coffee (drink not shower). I guess the caffeine gets the blood flowing or something. When it's bad though, there is nothing that will help.
Since pain is only one symptom of a migraine, the only thing to do is try to sleep it off.

I have a question for you all.
My son's GF is becoming self employed as a CNA. This means she loses her health insurance that she has. She asked me how to go about looking for health insurances, but I have no idea. I have always had insurance through my job.

So, how does one go about looking for health insurance?

In New York State there is something called a healthcare marketplace that is a state entity but is used for individuals in her situation to find insurance.

You can also look for insurances that are accepted broadly at places like urgent cares and then see if individuals can sign up for them. The fees will usually be according to your gross monthly income (that is, before taxes). Be forewarned: I looked at Independent Health at one point. Great provider except for one thing: Not transferable across county lines. That was super problematic because I live in County B but mostly work in County A in a city only 15 miles from home. The city also has all my doctors, dentist, mental health care practitioners, and a hospital and an urgent care. According to Independent Health they ONLY would provide full coverage if you went to a participating healthcare facility in your home county. For me, that meant the closest hospital is 50 miles away, and Urgent Care is around 35 miles away. Plus, tack on the extra 15 or so miles from the city where I work for any medical emergency. It was especially concerning for me because I need an EpiPen around candles of any kind and air freshener of any kind (so basically any time I go to a new office anywhere or a public restroom I have issues. Don't get me started on trying to survive a church service, especially in the Catholic tradition......candles are *always* used. Anyway.). I wound up finding a different provider. Just a word of caution.

Thank you, both of you. I will give her the info and tell her to be sure of the coverage. Her parents live on one end of the state, her best friend in another, and her sister in another state all together. Plus, she lives in a different county than the hospital, so this info was very important. Thank you W Willowy for the link and F FflurCadwgawn for the very important thought.

Ever since I put out my hummer feeder, they've been flocking to it! I so love them and their sweet chirping. The butterflies are still hanging out on the cushion my landlord gave me. So many different kinds that I've never seen before. One even let me pet him!

Caffeine is a fairly effective pain med. My mother used to think it was one of the most addictive substances around because of the migraines she'd get whenever she tried to give up coffee - obviously withdrawal, right? Turned out she was allergic to corn, and the allergy was causing her migraines. Caffeine suppressed them. When she removed corn from her diet she had no trouble reducing her coffee intake. By the end of her life she was drinking about a half cup a day, because she liked it, not because she needed it.

The healthcare marketplaces were instituted as part of the ACA; to the best of my knowledge all states have them, and they're extremely helpful.

Alicia88 Alicia88 , how did the job interview go?

He says he thinks it went well
It's for Dish Network and it pays about $5 an hour more than his last job PLUS commissions for upselling things like soundbars. It was a group interview. He's waiting to hear back about an individual interview. I told him to call tomorrow to follow up.

Good move, Alicia88 Alicia88 ! Letting a company know you are really interested is NEVER a bad thing! LOL, I was hired for one excellent job because I called them weekly...I think they hired me to shut me up!

Moral of the saga: Injured ribs HURT and Urgent Care does nothing for them.
Other than wrapping and not coughing, there isn't much to do for them.

Well, a few days ago I discovered that butterflies are attracted to it so now I'm getting all kinds of them visiting the cushion!
So...one man's trash is a butterfly's treasure? Does it have bright yellow or vivid purple in it? BOTH attract them.
