and even more gorgeous when she is all black. That change in her color still puzzles me.
Sometimes the color will change with the seasons -- my hair is naturally black and turns rusty in hot weather. Sometimes it can be caused by an imbalance in nutrients. If a cat has any Siamese genes, that red tone will be apparent.

Welcome to you and your beautiful kittys. Where did you get that most excellent harness??? My ex-stray Gypsy has quite a collection but I have never seen one like the one Maze is wearing!I love it!!

Thanks! You have quite the collection of harnesses. I'm actually not sure where it came from. My mom gave it to me last month for Maze's birthday and I'm just now putting it to use.

I'm quite happy with her weirdness. She must look at me and think,

"Well, her hair has gone from red to purple to pink to orange in the past year. I'm gonna change colour too!"

She has three ticked tabby sisters and they seem to change colours too. This is Twinkle, she goes from reddish brown to grey depending on the seasons.

I thought only Carpet was the color changer. Now here you have three others and they do it too.
That black cats will turn brownish or even reddish in the summer is not surprising, the sun will bleach hair of cats the same as it does human hair. But the color change of Carpet and Co is amazing.
You might remember from a few years ago when I had an all black semi-long haired cat (Patrick) who turned an ugly brown, then orangy and even grey, but in his case it was a deficiency in a non-essential amino acid and once he got a supplement to his diet he returned to black and stayed that way. Eventually he found a new home in Tracy, CA.
