Hi Cat lover, My Sam is 11 too , I just change his food as well, when we first got him we fed him Chicken soup wet and dry, then had to change cause the food was discontinued so changed to Natural Balance wet and dry , then changed to Acana now to Performitin Ultra Duck and pea formula

I would try another flavor like fish

Fish is generally not a good alternate option if your cat will eat other proteins - it has been linked to hyperthyroidism and some cats get addicted to it.

The best thing for allergies is to go on an elimination diet. Pick a novel protein (Rabbit is a great option because few cats are sensitive to it) and feed that exclusively for 8 weeks and see if the itching stops. You don’t want to mix in any other proteins during this time, and you want to minimize peas, potatoes and grains as well.

LID diets can be good for this, and Rawz brand is gear but expensive and sometimes hard to get. Kasiks (aka First Mate) is also good. Any single source protein will be good as well, so pork, beef or other nonfish flavors will work. Unfortunately chicken is a common allergen and in so many foods

This dry food? Grain Free Meat Lover’s Medley Recipe with Rabbit for Cats – 4.4 Lb.

I’d say it’s good if you want to remove chicken, but you run the risk of he’s allergic to the other ingredients: Buffalo, pork, peas, potatoes etc. the rabbit is a good suggestion if it’s the only protein, but you don’t need to include it just because. There also is not much protein in this kibble, so a higher protein content is probably better: Evangers Grain-Free Meat Lover’s Medley With Rabbit Dry Food Cat Food Review

A true elimination diet is hard especially with dry food because there are so many ingredients but if you take the first step and remove chicken for 8 weeks that sounds like a good plan. It doesn’t need to be Rabbit.
