Sounds ... interesting, maybe. :headscratch:
I'm told that the dialogue is to LOL over. I hope they're right. It will either be wonderful or dreadful...can't see much inbetween on that one!

I did finish "Oolong Dead," by Laura Childs, and am now reading her "The Teaberry Strangler."

OOLONG DEAD

"Theodosia has done it again...with a twist. Bodies seem to drop out of nowhere when Theodosia attends events, but this time, she manages to drop on the body! And imagine her horror when she realizes that the body is none other than Abby, her ex-boyfriend's sister. When Jory, the ex, returns to Charleston for the funeral, of course he asks Theodosia to look into his sister's death, and how can she say "no"? But not only is this dangerous to her health, it may prove dangerous to her heart!"

and I find it really hard to read on my tablet (for one, the back lighting tends to trigger migraines even with a light filter).
I think that's where an actual e-reader is preferable to a tablet. At least I find my Kobo really easy on my eyes.

LOL. Let us know if/when you read it. :read:

Today only (July 17, 2019), Gwen Cooper's wonderful Homer's Odyssey is on sale in electronic format for $1.99 at all major retailers.

Excuse me! That should read: "Today only (June 20, 2019), Gwen Cooper's wonderful Homer's Odyssey is on sale in electronic format for $1.99 at all major retailers."

Sorry about the confusion; I saw my date of of joining (July 17, 2014) and mis-read it.

Sometimes I want to read a Kindle freebie on my tablet and when I click to get the book I receive a message saying I already have the book in my library.

:doh::doh2:
Happens to me all the time. I find it easier/faster to just click on the link and let the computer tell me whether I already have it than to try to keep a list and check it.

I just finished Educated, a memoir by Tara Westover. She grew up in Idaho, the youngest of seven children of a survivalist family. The father kept them out of school because he believed public education was a government plot of some kind. They weren’t home schooled, either; they had to work in their father’s junkyard. It’s amazing that three of the seven managed through their own determination to earn Ph.D.s. She got into Brigham Young University without even a GED and went on to Cambridge and Harvard. Impressive story of resolve.
That sounds really interesting; thanks for the recommendation! I've put it on my BookBub wish list. (The problem with libraries is that they keep wanting me to give their books back.)

That sounds really interesting, so I just put a hold on it at the library. They've got 62 ebook copies, and I'm still # 320 on the wait list.
Wow!

Worked my way through "Dragonwell Dead" AND "The Silver Needle Murder" and am taking a break from my beloved cozy mysteries to read "Venetia" by Georgette Heyer, for my reading group!
I love Georgette Heyer, but don't believe I've read this one. How was it?

As much as I am enjoying this series, I've decided that if I ever go to Charleston, I am NOT attending any galas! Bodies keep showing up!
And if you ever get the chance, trust me, you don't want to meet Miles Vorkosigan either. He's wonderful to read about, but would be utterly catastrophic in real life.

I love my e-reader. I don't have any permanent books though, as the library ones expire. But I never read a book a second time, so it's not an issue for me.
And I re-read a lot.

Obama and Biden team up to solve mysteries, in this one, the death of a train conductor! When I manage to get my paws on it, I'll let you know if it lives up to the hype.
Thanks. I saw that one and had wondered about it...

Congrats on your acceptance back to school. That's cool that you can get textbooks on e-books.
:yeah: Should cut down immensely on the weight in your school backpack. Worth buying an e-reader for.

I'm currently re-reading Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson. It's, frankly, the weirdest book I've ever read. The main viewpoint character is named Hiroaki (Hiro for short) Protagonist. His sidekick is an adolescent girl who calls herself Y.T., short for "Yours Truly." It finds a way to combine computer viruses with human viruses, and the absolutely weirdest thing about it is that it makes it plausible! Also, speaking as a former theology student, there's actually some decent historical theological speculation in it. I'm thoroughly enjoying the re-read, and finding insights that I totally missed the first time through, way back in 1992 or '93.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Venetia, Our Heroine, is lively, intelligent and a very, very able person. Give it a try. I hadn't read it in decades, so it was almost like a new read for me.

SO...STILL reading The Tea Shop Mysteries. I will refrain from boring you all to death with my reviews for now. I did finish "The Teaberry Strangler," "Scones and Bones," "The Agony of the Leaves," and "Sweet Tea Revenge," and am now reading "Steeped in Evil."

I haven't read a lot since grad school when I had to read 5+ books a week. I am still a fast reader but I just don't really read anymore for some reason.

That being said, my current summer book list:

-Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte (all time favorite)
-Shirley, by Charlotte Bronte
-The Eye of the World, by Robert Jordan (reread before Amazon comes out with their The Wheel of Time show.....Moiraine has been cast!!!!)
-Galileo's Daughter, by Dava Sobel
-Trixie Belden and the Secret of the Mansion

My sister has the whole set in hardback. Written for 13-year old girls, but not bad reading. I went from atomic powered submarine to Trixie Belden, hand water pump and an outhouse when I got out of the Navy.

I agree, "Snow Crash" sounds really good! And my library has the e-book. :clap2: I'm # 11 on 2 copies, so not too bad.

I don't think I've read any of those, except maybe the Trixie Beldon one, like decades ago. ;)

We had to read The Odyssey in an English class. I think I was the only one in my class that enjoyed it.:flail:
I can see it only being interesting to cat people. :catman:

I've been busy with non-reading things, so I'm STILL reading Bellewether by Susanna Kearsley. It expires in 5 days, so I better read fast! At least there's still 2 copies available, so I can renew, if I need to.

Still wending my way through The Tea Shop mysteries. However, I'm on #16, so I only have #s 17 & 18 to go...or at least, until I get around to ordering the last three...which will be awhile since I have, by actual count, 86 books sitting on my "to read" table, and have just started ordering the Leaphorn and Chee series by Tony and Anne Hillerman. That's another 22 books...

Wrong book. Homer's Odyssey by Gwen Cooper is about a blind kitten named Homer. It isn't about an epic journey made by a Greek king named Odysseus, which was written by a blind Greek poet named Homer.

I'm on book 5 of the DI Helen Grace series with 2 more to go. Didn't read since Saturday. It's so different reading a crime novel where the police don't carry guns except under special circumstances. They have to be very, very fit to chase down perps and they use a baton as their weapon. I can't read some of the parts where someone gets beaten with one. Our hero, Helen, is now in prison awaiting trial for a crime she was set up for. If she had had a gun she wouldn't be in this mess.
and I'm very anti-gun! I'm anxious to see what will happen next.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
Reading Wiskey Creek series by Brenda Novak. Been busy with nonreading projects the past 2 months-getting ready to just have to weed and water my plants then sit and read for hours under my maple tree this summer with a Bee Kitty hanging out with me either on my lap. Or on the ground on a towel. :petcat:
