This one is for all of my book-loving friends out there!

I read voraciously, about 175 books a year. If you love books, what's your reading style? Are you a grazer, or a binger? That is, do you read a bit of this and a bit of that, moving from author to author and subject to subject, grazing along taking it all in, or do you dive headfirst into an author, series or subject, reading everything your chosen author has written, an entire series from start to finish, or everything you can find about a particular subject?
I'm a hard-core binge reader. I'll collect an entire series, or all of a favorite author's works (or all of them I am interested in), and dive in. I love cozy mysteries, and I find that binging allows me to totally immerse myself in that world and take in the entire world in a very organic way. Now, of course, there are more than a handful of series that I have except for the very newest books, so those are read as singletons. And I'll take short breaks inbetween long series to read a few old favorites...clearing the palate, as it were. For instance, I'm currently on #14 of the Tea Shop Mystery series. Five more to go, I'll then read 3-4 Mary Stewarts, then dive into the ENTIRE Mrs. Murphy series, complete, read a few more Stewarts, then start on "The Cat Who" series...

HAPPY READING!

Binge reader, I am currently on book 7 of Tom Abraham's The traveler series about a post apocalyptic world. I only do this when I am really into the character and his story. I, too, read every morning when I get up. It is nice to get lost in someone elses world for a while. My dad passed his love for books down to me, I will always thank him for that!

I'll graze. I was working my way through Pendergast, but I had to quit and take a break. I've been reading a little of this and a bit of that now, going to the library for e-books, reading some Kindle stuff through freebooksy.com. I'll get back to Aloysius once the weather cools down again.

I've been writing down some of the series that I'd like to start collecting through Thriftbooks.com.

I binge read. I won't start a series unless I have access to all the books in it. I'll binge read authors or books relating to a certain subject. If I find a book that looks good but the rest of the books in its series haven't come out yet then I don't read the book.

I used to read a book a day for years..now that I have been working so much it's more like an hour a day. I tend to graze on various subjects or I binge read a particular author. Ive mostly stuck to Romance and WW2 style books like those WW2 books by Helen Carey and Dee Williams-I decided to read these type of books as I already read most of the contemporary romances like Linda Miller, Debbie Macomber, Sherryl Woods and Lisa Kleypas type authors. I also love western romances with cowboys and country living. I have read many espionage type books. My tastes are all over the place...as long as there's a good plot I will read it.

A grazer here. I'm in a book club with friends and we take turns choosing books, so as a result we end up grazing across author and genres. I like it though, it makes me explore new author and genres that I otherwise wouldn't have picked up.

The few times I read an entire series, I find myself walking around dazed as if I live simultaneously in this world and in the series' world. A peculiar feeling...

I usually just go to the book store and skim the shelves. Certain covers and titles will stand out to me and I'll read the teaser on the back. If it seems interesting enough to invest in, I will buy it. I never look for a particular author or genre. But I normally lean more towards the mystery/crime/thriller/ghost types.

I guess I'm some of both. I just finished reading all but one of Jane Austen's, but I am reading The French Revolution now. History and biography are high on my list. I don't get caught up in the plot and race ahead - and stay up all night reading.

But I also read new books from favorite authors - C.J. Box, Louise Penny, J.A. Jance, Jacqueline Winspear. I also got hooked on women spies or resistance fighters in WWII, and have read several books on that.

I used to like David Baldacci and John Grisham, but their plots have started to become very similar, so I've stopped reading theirs.

I can't binge read- too many projects on the list for that, so I read when I can, like in the morning while having breakfast or at night, or when bad weather puts a crimp in my plans.
:yeah: it's similar here. too many things needing doing for me to have the time to read much. though, even with that, i still enjoy reading.

as for my 'style' of reading, it depends on the author. there are some authors that i read pretty much every book. and some subjects (nonfiction) about which i read many books. :dunno:

I do not know if I fall into either category. I am a somewhat fast reader, so I sit and read a single book over the course of an hour or two (for most books). I can read a series over a couple of days if I set my mind to it; however, I rarely feel a need to do so. Maybe it has to do with my preferences in books, which brings us back to grazer or binger.

I like a bunch of different types of books and have a pretty big library. I like pre-1920s books the best, but I like many different genres and do not tend to stick to one, so it is difficult to say what I like, specifically. I know a lot of modern (1970-now) books just bore me to death. I can bing several different genres over a few days' time without any problem, though.

What I really like to do is annotate books. It slows me down reading, but I love annotating. My favorite book is "The Scarlet Letter." I have multiple copies, all but two of which have been annotated. (Its only flaw, in my opinion, is the overuse of the words epoch and tremulous.)

My husband is an audiobook nerd. :) He drives a lot, so he finishes a book or two a month (or more), depending on the length. He likes to listen to book series rather than stand-alone books. He just finished listening to the last of the Wheel of Time series last month, which is 14 books. He has listened to all of the Red Rising series this month and is in need of a new series.
