Hey everyone! I've been browsing this forum for some time before getting my kitty and since, so I've decided to make an account and introduce ourselves.

The little baby below is Freya, who joined our family last Friday. She was part of an unwanted litter of kittens and the people who had her and her siblings were going to "throw them away" unless they got adopted. So that's how she ended up with us :) We were initially told she's 9 weeks old, but at our first vet visit he told us she's barely 6 weeks old! :eek3:

Either way she's doing great, eating, sleeping, and being a little (exhausting) ball of energy. She sleeps next to me at night and sometimes even grooms my hair. She learned to use her litter box on her first try and hasn't peed anywhere else since. Our current challenge revolves around learning that people are not toys.

Hello and welcome to TCS. :wave2: Freya is paws-itively precious. :catlove:
Congrats, also, on being a new cat "parent". :petcat::bouquet: :hearthrob:

That is always a challenge when kittens are adopted too young. Here's a link to an article by the Humane Society on Teach your kitten how to play nice that might have some helpful tips for you.

Thank you for the welcome and for the article. There's definitely stuff in there I haven't tried. When she starts playing rough I go "ow" and leave the room, or if it's at night I remove her from the room since I can't really go sleep anywhere else  I think it's working because half the time she just reaches out with her paw or mouth but stops halfway, it's like something clicks in her little head like "wait, that's not okay". Of course the other half she still wants to play rough  Hopefully she'll understand eventually!

Yes, yelling loudly "OW!" or even hissing when she 'attacks' you is the way to go, it lets her know it is not acceptable. Leaving the room and not playing anymore is another.
She is absolutely adorable, those eyes!

What a cutie! She'll learn to play nice quickly. In the meanwhile, since she is still so young (and really should still be nursing), a little KMR or goat milk with her food would probably be very welcome, and give her a nutritional boost.
