Hi,
I’m moving out of my living space soon but my issue is that my ex roommate left her cat behind. I took her in and have taken care of her but now that I’m moving out I’m not sure what to do with the kitty. I plan on moving back home for a bit but my family is allergic to cats. The person I had asked to take care of her while I’m in this transition period backed out. I’m not sure where I’m going right now, (moving out of state with my friend, staying in town). Honestly, I’m thinking about taking her to the humane society which breaks my heart cause she’s the sweetest in my life but I think it’s best because my ex roommate really didn’t taken good care of her ex: leaving her in her car for weeks, keeping her in her closet and abandoning her for months. I wish there was a way someone could take care of her for a few months until I figure out what I’m doing but I think it might be time for her to find a stable loving family. My roommate moved away to New York and wasn’t exactly attached to her always so it’s kinda out of the picture

Is there a way you could keep her in your room at your parents home? That would prevent others from being around her. Also maybe a basement? Taking her to the humane society would be very hard for her. Older cats are hard to adopt out.

I would try to work with your family and see if you can come up with something you all can agree on. Maybe they have someone who would watch the kitty.

Keep trying to find a way to keep her. She may be very hard to adopt if she had abandonment issues. I really hope you can find a way. Talk to your family and see what you can all agree upon.

There may be rescues in your area that could at least put her into a foster situation. If you will PM me with your general area, I'd be happy to do some basic research on who you might be able to contact.
