I have 7 and 9 month old kittens who are now well bonded and my daughter just sent me the cutest kitten up for adoption. Still a baby - about 8 weeks. Is three too many? Am I going to rock the boat? Too much of a good thing with two that get along? Give me your honest thoughts!

I have three. Two girls aged 4 that didnt get on, no fighting just ignoring each other. After months of dithering I took a leap of faith and got a little boy, now aged 3. Now they all get on, play together and I think actually like each other. I was lucky, it could have gone the other way.
Are you kittens boys/girls? They are young so there is a good chance they will accept another. Can you spend a little time with this young kitten to see what his/her personality is like. Would you be allowed to foster him/her to see how they all get on.

My oldest is a female calico, she is the boss. Her brother is younger and a grey/white tabby and follows her everywhere. The new kitty is a male. I had heard with calicos they often run the show and its best to bring in males. They are all pretty young, so I imagine with time they would get along. My girl was not happy when her brother showed up initially, but after awhile they became friends and now they are always together and sleep together etc.

As long as you have the space, money (vet bills) and time for a 3rd kitten, I think it's a fine idea.

In your position I would try to spend some time with the kitten, that might give you a better idea if you think he will get on with yours. Hopefully other members will reply with their opinions and experiences. I wish you luck in making the right decision, its a hard one. Please let us know.

Well seeing as I have 10, I think it would be nice to only have 3, lol. If you want a third and have the time and money for a third cat I would go for it. The other two are still young enough that adding another shouldn't be an issue, so long as the personalities mesh, but you never know.

Personally for me 3 is the perfect number of cats. I have six. Somewhere between 4 and 6 it starts to feel like more work. I do love my six though and wouldn't change it for the world.

We definitely have the time and space. Do we really ever have the money...lol! He is still quite young - only about 6 weeks now so I wouldn't have him for a couple more. He is awfully cute!
