Our escapee came back after a night with this worrisome injury, and we're trying to make sense of it. We welcome any insights! (Yes, we are scheduled for the next available vet-specialist appointment, but that is days away...)

Not being a vet, I wouldn't want to begin to try to diagnose anything, especially an x-ray. The best I can do is to advise you to keep him as quiet as possible to avoid further injury, and PLEASE to update us when you know what you are dealing with! When you post here, in some small way, your cat also becomes our cat, and we fret!

I want to take a moment to welcome you to TCS, and to say how happy I am that your fur baby is back at home where his injury can be taken care of!

I wish I could have given you some real information, but...this one is so very tricky.

I agree with Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 , most anyone on this site is not educationally equipped to advise based on that x-ray. However, has anyone affiliated with whoever took the x-ray given any advice on what you should be doing and watching for while you wait to see the vet-specialist?

What did the vet say when they took the x-ray? How is your kitty behaving?

Legs were weak at first, but have recovered over the week. His energy has returned too, and he's more like himself. But he's remained incontinent, and appears to have no sensation or control over his tail - it's limp.

Well...we'll take what we can get at this point. With some injuries, there is a slow improvement, with others, not. However, there are a LOT of products to help with an incontinent cat, so even that wouldn't be the end of the world, and he can certainly have a happy life! Only cats, especially, do well, since the tail is so much of their language with each other.
