My kitty Heidi got mad at me last night because I couldn't snuggle with her. She has turned from feral to chest snuggler so I try really hard to encourage the snuggling, especially because the day before, I had to clean out an abscess on her cheek that she was NOT thrilled about.

Backstory about why I can't snuggle with Heidi:

I'm in my fourth season as an archaeologist and last week was the start of the 2019 season. We had to do yard work the first day to get things cleaned up, and then the second day was our first dig day. For archaeology we trowel everything into a 5 gallon bucket and then have to lift the bucket into a waist high sifter. I have to take it a little easy this year because I'm doing the dig in the mornings, and then to pay the bills I work part time as a lead tutor for an after school program at a local elementary school. So, I'm trying to find the right balance of heavy labor at the dig so I'm not completely wiped out to work with kids in the afternoon.

Last Thursday my neck and shoulder started hurting and I thought it was just from not doing archaeology for a winter. Because hey, I live on a farm and have to haul 5 gallon buckets of water every day for chickens, cows, and horses. Well, it got to the point where my collarbone REALLY hurts sitting down, not so much when I stand up or put heat on it. I can also sit mainly without pain in my collarbone as long as I don't put pressure on my tailbone and keep pressure off the arm.

Guess it's time for the chiropractor this morning and wait a week or so to see if that helps. He really helped last year when I did in my other shoulder slipping on an icy sidewalk. My chiropractor has the power to order Xrays or MRI work if he thinks it's necessary. And no archaeology until it heals.

Not a happy camper right now and my kitty is grumpy at me for not snuggling.

All 3 of mine like belly rubs but Mickey really insists on it.

I don't know his breed, but I've always wondered if he has some Maine Coon in him because he's pretty big and has huge feet. He's not nearly big enough to be full blooded or even half, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has some.

I tried telling him that's not how you eat a sandwich. He didn't care. Haha
Yep...and bread on the head is a definite sign that he's feeling himself again!

Hek would have nothing to do with belly rubs until she turned 10, but for the last year and few months, she's a fiend for them.

My Chamouti does the same thing. Is that a thing red long haired cats have? He's a Maine Coon with no tabby markings but some very faint ones on his face.View attachment 288390
He looks so cute on the bed. Big Cal is part Calico/Part Maine coon and she loves her belly rubbed as well.

One of the things my depression has done is make me lose interest in books and movies shortly after starting them. Today, I started AND finished a book, after many months of not being able to do so.

Take THAT, depression :bat:
THAT IS AWSOME!
My son is studying to be a clinical psychologist, so I get to hear about how the brain works. A lot of people don't fully understand what you're going through (I don't fully understand), but I do know that this is a big deal. Congrats and I'm proud of you.

Today, I put a handful of bacon and cheddar cheezits in a bowl, left it on the couch to get a glass of water and came back to Lelia licking them.

My naughty little bacon fiend. I've learned my lesson.
I have never tried the bacon ones but Willow as well as my previous cats have always loved Cheezits.

I've been trying to find a program to sketch on since I'm not in school anymore so I no longer have access to Adobe apps.
I downloaded one called Tayasui Sketches and it's pretty good so far. I will have to play around with it a bit more but I managed to sketch a rottweiler. My mom named him Tubby! :redheartpump:

Wasn't certain where to post this.
Asbestos Found in Cosmetic Products
Personally, I think this was the best spot available on-site. And it sounds to me like we need to start boycotting Claire's, for refusing to do a voluntary recall on cosmetics containing asbestos, which they sell primarily to children.

My Floppy was the same way, in fact, that's how she got her name. She was also a long hair, but not red. Gray and brown.

I have a friend who normally lives in Georgia, where she has two cats, but she's currently visiting Denver while her cats remain in Georgia. And it seems that she has mice in her house in Denver.

She's asked me whether she can borrow Bright Eyes to clean out the mice, but Bright Eyes is terrified of the car - the only other time he's been in a car in many years was when he was "kidnapped" from his home and brought to me (he doesn't understand that his human had died). That was last autumn; putting him in a carrier and taking him to someone else's house now would probably destroy his fragile security.

Does anyone else in the Denver area have a cat who'd enjoy a brief vacation at his or her very own mouse hunting preserve? If so, please PM me.

Depression is definitely rough. This is the first year since at least 2015 that I'm actually completely out of it. I started bullet journalling and while I can't do a whole lot of art in it because it's for work and therefore a legal document, in my personal planner version I added a circular mood tracker and HOLY CRAP. I also started some new herbs for depression and anxiety in the beginning of March this year per my therapist (I have a hard time with true pharmaceuticals because I'm allergic to most of the fillers if not the meds themselves), and I also discovered hypoglycemia is to blame for what the meds can't touch. By May I actually had mental energy again to tackle everything and then some. (My new depression med: Catnip and chamomile tea. I kid you not. It's amazing and the biggest difference is no anxiety and waking up in the morning without feeling like I've been hit by a bus mentally). Go everyone who is beating the depression this year, it's a really tough nut to crack, but once you do it's absolutely a brilliant feeling.

What's on my mind is that I'm quite surprised. When I was 18 weeks along I had an ultrasound done and even though they couldn't get the best view they were pretty certain that I was having a little girl. Yesterday I overworked myself moving boxes and small furniture and I was having bad cramping in my lower stomach and a very small amount of bleeding when I woke up this morning so I called my doctor and they wanted to do another ultrasound to make sure everything was alright. I was happy with that because any chance to see my baby I'll gladly take. As it was going on I was told that my baby boy was doing just fine and she couldn't see anything wrong. I said my what?!? My little one's legs were wide open this time and his gender was very clear. Now I have to call everyone who came to the gender reveal party and tell them I'm having a boy instead.
