Hello fellow cat fans! I've been reading your wisdom for a long time and now I'd like to post a question. I am constantly on the search for carrageenan-free wet food (esp. pates) and when I contacted Soulistic to find out if they were considering removing it, I was surprised to find out Soulistic is made by Weruva. The initial response I received was no, they were not removing it. When I pointed out that Weruva highlights their carrageenan-free food (and makes it a marketing point) I then received the reply that they were considering removing it from Soulistic -- both answers from the same person. I just started using Weruva but these conflicting replies about Soulistic make me hesitant to trust them. Your thoughts?

Thanks for your reply -- I'm really looking more for whether or not Weruva is a trustworthy company, since they seem to be straddling both sides of the carrageenan debate.

Most companies do some straddling, whether it is by themself or the parent company/distributor. I think since Soulistic is manufactured for Petco as a cheaper alternative, it makes sense for the food to have carageenan. They have to work within the confines of the parameters set by Petco.

I also wouldn't think badly of a company simply over one customer service experience. I've worked in customer service and often the person at the end of the email/phone simply doesn't know the inner workings of the company, or got more information from a higher up in between answers. If they feel attacked they also may tell you what you want to hear to stop feeling put on the spot. Not saying that this happened here, but just offering a different perspective.

Either way, I don't trust Weruva less for having two similar foods with differences like this. I like the options they provide; I don't have issues with carageenan and can't afford to feed many Weruva, but Soulistic is more in my price range.
