Is Duralactin A Decent Alternative To Lactoferrin, Or Maybe Other Supplements?

We've finally given up on lactoferrin as a general all-purpose anti-inflammatory for our FIV+ kitty because it makes him nauseated. So we'd like to get an idea re: what other options we might want to look into before Buddy's upcoming visit with the vet for his annual check-up.

For what it's worth, he tolerates milk based products okay (except for lactoferrin), but some fish based products make Buddy itch like crazy and scratch himself raw.

I give my herpes kitty Duralactin to help decrease inflammation and snot production. Lactoferrin did nothing for her when we used that, so we gave up.

Awesome! :)

Poor Buddy, even when he's blessed with a rare stretch of relatively good health, he still usually has a nose full of snot. The antibiotic/steroid drops that the vet prescribed do help a little, but we were advised to use them sparingly so he doesn't develop a tolerance to them.

Thanks oodles! :hearthrob: :redheartpump: :hearthrob:

Just curious...do you always give the same dosage?

Or do you bump that up a bit during flare ups like you can with l-lysine or lactoferrin?

I have a herpes kitty (pretty mild, usually just a drippy eye unless he gets stressed) who isn't currently on anything after not seeing much difference with lactoferrin or l-lysine (plus the recent studies that l-lysine doesn't help and may be harmful). I hadn't hurt about Duralactin until now so I looked it up and I'm interested in giving it a shot.

Do you use the capsules or the chews? What is the dosage?

Thanks!
