I read an article a good while back about a very well-known actor who was so impressed with a particular role in a move that he offered to do it for free. Now, as I recall, they did pay him a nice amount, but nowhere NEAR his normal fee. So, here's the question...If you were a famous actor, what role in what movie would you do for free, just because it would be so good? You can even make up a movie and your roll, or take a favorite book and character to be made into the movie. Or it could be a television series.

I think I'd like to play Alinor, if Roberta Gellis' "Roslynd" series were to be made into either a movie or a television series. Set in England at the end of King Richard's reign, and the accession to the thrown of King John, these books are historically well-done. Alinor is the main character of the first book, a matriarch come to the position very young, but bold and smart. She manages to remain independent in a time when that was VERY rare, although not unheard of. Of course, I'd have to turn the clock back on myself a good many years, but BOY would I have fun with that!

Well, they'll never make this movie; that was clearly decided long ago and even if it hadn't been too many of the original actors have passed, but I would dearly love to play Dr. Evan Wilson, AKA Tail-Kinker To-Ennien, in the movie version of Uhura's Song (based on the book of the same name by the late great Janet Kagan). And yes, despite her name Dr. Wilson is a female. More than that I won't say because I don't want to spoil the book for anyone.

The reason they didn't even consider making a movie of the book is that it involves a race of felinoid aliens with prehensile tails, and special effects weren't that good at the time the book was written.

I'd like to play Randle P. McMurphy (played by Jack Nicholson) in "One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest".

I like characters who fight the good fight against oppression of vulnerable creatures (both human and nonhuman), especially when they do it in a slightly rebellious way.

For me to be in a movie without getting paid, it would have to include babies, cats, and romance. Bonus if it includes other animals like llamas, horses, friendly dogs, chickens, and bunnies. :)

 :agree:
Fun fact, the shorts he's wearing over his jeans in the basketball game scene have a bit more of a back story in the novel.

I don't know what I would choose. The characters I love on TV shows or movies, I love because of who plays them, so I would likely not choose one of those. I think it would be interesting to play myself in a movie about my life, but that would be improbable in many ways.
