Hey kitty girls (Rupaul reference),

My sweetheart Jiggy is an indoor/outdoor 18 month old cat who doesn't play with any toys and I have purchased 20 different kinds of toys and that's no exaggeration and not one toy interests her. I've tried catnip stuffed toys, lasers, fishing rod and nothing.

As a kitten, she loved playing with paper balls (her absolute fave), toilet paper, beer caps, bobby pins and visitors earrings lol. Now, every few months or so she will rip a toilet roll to shreds and bunny kick it for 5 minutes and then she's over it.

Should I be concerned? Or is she receiving enough stimulation when she goes outside. She free roams from 9am until 6pm. I see her chasing flies and doing random zoomies and God knows what else shes doing but I miss playing with her and bonding. Luckily, she still comes for snuggles at bedtime.

Would love to hear your experiences regarding this topic!

Hi! You posted awhile ago about this, yes? I think she is getting her primary play time on her own terms while she is outside. She probably tires herself out by the time she comes in.

Also some cats seem to like ''accidental" toys much better! Feeby really has never had much interest in standard toys, but will sometimes play with large bottle caps, toilet tissue rolls, etc.

Your girl is much more independent - in part due to being outside a lot, and also in part due to her personality - with a little bit of young age added to the mix!

Thanks so much for your input :) I suffer from amnesia so I'm sorry if I've posted something similar.

Hey! No problem! I think last time you posted Jiggy was younger and you were also a bit disappointed about her being less affectionate than you would have liked. Is that still the case too? She is still pretty young and much like a teenager!!

Wow I'm so impressed with your memory! Yes I did have that problem and now I understand the term "be careful what you wish for". She sleeps with me every night, follows me around, cries for me when I sleepover at my boyfriend's haha but I absolutely love it! She's my first animal baby and my unofficial emotional support animal.

I just see so many of my friends cats still playing with toys and they are way older but I believe she gets enough stimulation outdoors.

Also I have a separate problem; Jiggy has managed to make friends with our neighbour's cat and she always invites him over to eat some biscuits.. Lol. It doesn't bother me but I don't want the neighbour to get upset thinking I'm purposely feeding him food so I think I'll need to get one of those microchip cat flaps.

So, good (I guess?) you got your cuddly kitty, even if she doesn't play the way you want!! (Btw, I 'cheated', and went back and read your other post - :D.)

As far as the neighbor goes, can you talk to them, tell them about the cats' friendship, and see if they mind? Maybe they don't!!
