It's my Lokhi's favorite food which I order every single month from Chewy. Well, I just received an email from Chewy stating that the Nutro Chunky Chicken Loaf has been discontinued.
So disappointed. That's why its a good thing to feed a variety of food. My Lokhi eats a couple of other flavors and brands but the Nutro Chicken has always been his absolute fave. :(

Oh no, so sorry to hear this! Our cats like the chunky chicken loaf, too, but they only get it about once a week. (I haven't seen the minced chicken, their favorite, in a while... and suspect that one may already be gone.)

I hope you're able to find something good for Lokhi to replace it. If you haven't tried out the new Weruva/BFF "Play" pates, you might want to look into those: they're smooth pates but our cats love them. (Soulistic has some new pates that seem to be the exact same thing, sold only at Petco and about a dime cheaper.) Good luck! And thank you for posting this.

Speaking of Petco, you can still get the Nutro Chunky Chicken there. I received the same email from Chewy, and since that is the ONLY food my Tinky will eat, I immediately went on a search for it and found it at Petco, so ordered a case. I did notice I could not put it on automatic reorder though, so not a good sign for the future.

Neither one of my guys will touch the new BFF "play" pates with a ten foot pole, and I was so hopeful they would like them :sigh:. Still on the hunt for anything Tinky will like, as he does seem to be tiring of the Nutro after all these years. He doesn't even like Weruva Paw Lickin Chickin. Who ever heard of such a thing!

Thanks! I will check out the Weruva pates. They use to eat the cats in the kitchen chicken but they were never enthusiastic about it.

I noticed the Nutro chicken for kittens is still available. I bought it once by mistake and iirc, its basically the same but a mushier consistency. Hopefully, my Lokhi will like it the same.
I did try Nutro max chicken this week and both of mine LOVED it. It's not a pate and it does contain pototo starch and wheat gluten but they loved it so much I think I might add it to their rotation.

Good news is the Nutru chicken for kittens looks to be the same as the chunky chicken. I think my Lokhi may like it more because it doesn't have the chunks of chicken he often left on the plate.

yay!

Received another email from Chewy. Apparently, Nutru has discontinued their Turkey sliced as well. Bummer. It was another one of my Lokhis faves.

Yes, they are changing up so many things over there at Nutro. I'm very sad about it because it is a pretty good food IMHO and one of the few my guys like. And I have to tell you I really dislike the "perfect portions" packages that certain manufacturers are gong to. They are NOT the correct portion sizes for either of my cats, and they don't make any type of lids to fit those containers, so it's kind of a hassle to store in the fridge if you need 1 1/2 of them to make a meal. Plus I don't have any spoons the right size to get all the juices out of the skinny little containers! I could keep complaining about it all, but it won't accomplish anything . I did contact the company and let them know that 1.32 ounces is NOT a perfect portion for many cats, and that actually many people would prefer to see larger cans vs smaller packages, but I doubt they will listen.

I bought cans of Nutro chunky chicken and minced chicken at Petsmart last week... but am sorry the sliced turkey is gone!

Those horrible trays really are the perfect size for our cats' bedtime snack but I don't like them anyway! They're hard to open and you're right, mrsgreenjeens, that they're a bit skinny for most spoons.

That sucks. Sounds like they're getting rid of all the good flavors, the ones without many additives and fillers. I used to use these flavors.

Have Lokhi tried the Nutro Max? Lilith and Sophie are super picky eaters and they love it. I get it from Amazon using the subscribe and save. I get it for $17.28 a case. They have turkey & chicken liver chunks in sauce and lamb & turkey cutlets in sauce. L&S like both very much. Nutro Max is the only wet food that they will eat these days. Everything else gets rejected. Even foods they used to love. I fully understand the frustration that comes with having a very picky eater.

The only problem with the "max" line is that they contain wheat gluten and potato starch, neither of which I want to feed my guys. One gets to feeling punk whenever I feed those type of things to him.

Yeah. They are not ideal but it's what they will eat. I'd really prefer to avoid all foods with gravy but this is what they want. I so wanted them to love the Dr. Elsey's canned but they will not touch it. They love the DE dry chicken so I had high hopes for the canned. It was an epic fail.
