I got the bad outlets replaced and started looking for an electrician to see about AFCIs Thank you @NY cat man !

The kitties here have started listening for ants in the house.
tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 What was that about owls?

This is what I think the kitties were saying.

The little tuxedo boy kitty seems very lethargic for a kitten. And I had the two of them together in my bathroom. They both had diarrhea. I hope it is nothing serious. I took the two kittens to the vet on the bus. A lady on the bus gave me a dirty look and I gave her one right back! ;) Then when I got back to my apartments I heard meowing under a car. I crawled around on the dirty pavement until I coaxed this little girl out. Had to make another trip to the vet.

*PRAYERS* for them! Reportedly, pure pumpkin (tinned is fine) mixed in with wet food is helpful for either diarrhea OR constipation. A couple of tablespoons mixed in with wet food. May they be safe and well! and safe journeys for you all. :vibes::cutecat::kneading::redheartpump:

Awwww, brave and vigilant BJ! Such a good guardian for the family! Elvis is that way for us, too, and before that there has been a long line of excellent and caring guard cats, some of whom have growled when they hear someone around, or something they don't like. They are very alert. I've always felt much better with at least one big male cat in the family. *Whether or not there was a male human in the picture*

Let the ants stay outside to live their productive ant lives, and let the owls do likewise. We had carpenter ants in the Mojave, among several other types of ants; my ex used to spray around the perimeter of the house for them, but they would come inside anyway. I had to throw away some nuts and coconut and clean out that entire cupboard because they decided they wanted to have a party in there.:sigh: I invested in plastics to accomodate dry goods of all kinds. It has been an excellent investment and I am quite happy to have a wide array of plastics to hold everything from pasta to nuts. :yess:

I also have the kitty alarm system in my home. The alerts will vary depending on which kitty is on duty.

Of course our dog has become the 1st level to our system recently. Took him about a year to discover his guard duty capabilities. "Oh, i suppose to bark when someone comes in our yard? Got it!!!" My husband says the dog overheard me saying i wished he would let us know when someone drives up. It does seem like that's what happened cause all of a sudden he started barking not long after that.

We use canning jars for food storage. Sugar ants have already waged one invasion a week or so ago. We end up dealing with them over & over until September or October.

BJ & crew could have there own blog or something. Captions really fit the photos! So cute & they look so content!

It can do wonders, although I can't for the life of me figure out how the pumpkin knows what to do!

God I love BJ's face.

I didn't have a problem with ants as a child, but when I tried teaching in Malaysia I had an ant infestation that persisted after the exterminator came like three times ( at least twice) and now I just get the shudders.

I wish we had a mobile crew to send out to help you. That was a very rough day. Bravo for answering the call to rescue! That little face is so sweet! OMG! I hope little tuxie regains some energy. Coccidia is a common issue in little ones. If it isn’t something you can pin down you might ask.about that. Easily treated. Hopefully it’s something the pumpkin will solve. Those babies have just had a hard time. It always grabs my heart when I see lost kitties. How can anyone put them out? I could never look at kitty eyes and then turn away.

Big kitties are great guardians. I can say that I had a petite female kitty that was a wonderful guardian too. She actually attacked someone once for yelling at me. The person was aggravated and when they moved towards me, she took it to be an act of aggression. She had a point. They were out of line. She went at them like a tiger. Fortunately it ended up cracking us both up and the person realized the cat was acting in my best interest.
I all for kitties like Elvis watching over the humans. Good kitty Elvis!

A cat crew with a doggie as the front line! Awesome! That would make quite a picture. I think it’s hilarious that your doggie listened to you and started doing as you requested. Animals understand a lot more than many people think.

I’m glad you enjoy the captions. The cats are very specific. I just take dictation. Lol Sometimes I wonder if they use the internet without me. Hmmm. BJ blog.......

BJ loves you too. He say everyone in your house is beautiful. He offered to be an escort for your fur lady as a groomsman. Lol That would make quite a photo! Picture those two faces in formal wear.

I didn't have a problem with ants as a child, but when I tried teaching in Malaysia I had an ant infestation that persisted after the exterminator came like three times ( at least twice) and now I just get the shudders.
Shudders understood! I encountered leaf cutter ants in the jungle and they seemed to go on for miles!

On this feral front I was busy today working on the room where the Bengal boys sleep. I may be replacing the floor in there. I hope not but I fear the little Carpenter ants may have gotten into the wood. I’ll find out later this week. I’ve never replaced an entire subfloor before but Banjo and the rest have volunteered to help. That should make the job easier. :flail:

Here is how the day went here!

For those of you who do not know, three of the boy kitties living here are a little different. Lol They are tall/large kitties and they have very playful personalities. (Their Sister Muffin isn’t small but is not as large as the boys) ) Our vet suggested they might might have some Bengal in their blood. I have no way to ever know ,but they are a little intimidating to some people. I love them. They are extremely affectionate to me. In fact, they’ll knock you over with a head butt if you aren’t careful. Today I had to replace the air conditioner where they sleep. It’s around 100 during the day and the old unit went out when the outlet burned out. In a closed house, fans just would not be sufficient. I converted a porch into an enclosed room for them so it isn’t vented with the Central Unit. The boys were a little upset about the changes today in the room. They don’t like change but once the new AC was working, they were very happy kitties. Me too!

It’s hot in here! Do something! We already went swimming in the pool and it didn’t help!
D0805B0F-5E90-4AEA-AD0E-27C949E4A004.jpeg

Mom! Jeremiah looks like he fainted and Sherbie is feeling woozy. We might need air conditioning and treats!

New AC kitties! Yay!

Let me feel it on my tummy!

Ahhhhhh! Feel that Jeremiah?
A661EB84-A25A-4C9E-B04D-1949C9F5D4BC.jpeg

Mom? It’s me, Muffin! Are the boys okay?
92498104-2466-4E25-978C-81A95785BEFE.jpeg

Cheetah! Are you okay?

Ummmmm. We’re fine now Muffin.
7B1FD14B-5F36-4063-9208-DAA7AF229BB6.jpeg

The boys are all enjoying the cool air. Sister Muffin, made sure of that!

Lady thought she might like to see what we were up to. She’s a little nosy and the boys are her babies. I had to laugh at this comparison of kitty paws. Lady looks a bit small next to Cheetah feet. Looking at Ladys’ expression I kind of imagine she is thinking, “ What is Mom feeding my boys? ” :headscratch:

It’s been a long, hot day here but all is well with the feral and rescued kitties.

Have a nice cool night everyone! :vibes:

Plastic works. But if you're not concerned about breakage, glass jars are good too. They don't take on smells like plastic can. And, probably, better for the environment. I get large ones at the dollar store for a couple dollars, depending on the size.

I love the idea of an enclosed porch or sunroom. I wish we had one. :)

It was fun to hear about & see the big boys again. Cute pic of Muffin spying on her brothers.

That's why I want to switch over to glass containers, because plastic takes on the smell of food, but I'm afraid of breakage.

I like glass too. I find that things with tomato based sauces stain some plastic and garlic can linger. Lol
I have a Dollar store just minutes from my house and I do find some bargains there. That’s where the kitty pools came from!

This gave me a funny mental picture of you being the kitties' secretary.

I thought Muffin was funny too. She could have come out where we were but I guess little sisters like to spy. Lol

I do keep the glass where Banjo can’t get to it. If anyone was going to break it.... it would be Banjo. I bet she would do that just out of curiosity.

We really got that air conditioner in just in time! We are having a lot of high temperatures here now. Record highs. I don’t usually use the Central unit at all but right now I’m glad we have it. Midday was scorching.

I’m still medicating Whistle. His eye is better but we haven’t quite finished yet. Poor Whistle. He hates it when I put this ointment in. Banjo isn’t fond of me doing it either. She is a good sister to Whistle. Mitsy is protective too.

This is how things go at medicine time.

Here are the thoughts on the subject.

Go away Mom! I’m hiding my eye!

Poor kitties. I don’t see how Banjo gets everything done. She takes care of everybody.
I love the way she held Whistles’ paw while he got his medicine but It must be exhausting to be a kitty! ;) Banjo was asleep before she even put her head down. :p Whistle was snoring almost instantly.
I’ll be glad when we are finished with the medicine. I hate bothering Whistle. That Kitty stink eye is serious stuff!

Have a great day! :heartshape:

:hellocomputer:It is just now starting to get hot here, wish we had central insted of widow units in two of the bedrooms and one wall unit in the living room. The living room one is out of commission until the landlord can get in to work on it. The one for the big bedroom died last year and it's replacement is still in the box in the trunk of the car. I got the small bedroom window unit put in today and Gypsy is so mad at me for wrecking one of her prime outside watching lounge areas that she has been avoiding me ever since :angrycat:

They certainly have a wide range of (admittedly) fairly subtle expressions, but they DO HAVE THEM! Anyone who spends time with cats catches on to that!

So you have experience of this, @Mamany1953? I recommended it to someone today whose cat is having the runs.
I do. I haven't needed it with Hekitty, but I had a big ginger tom named Primus who would eat ANYTHING, with the expected results. Pumpkin generally got him straightened out. And with kittens who have been living rough and scrounging garbage to survive, I'd expect some tummy upsets!

TYSM for the testimonial, @Mamany1953!
One of the two dogs I was forced to care for used to do that. He'd get out (come to find out eventually, he was someone else's dog, but ex #1 brought him home and insisted we keep him. I didn't want to. Anyway.) and cruise the neighborhood with whatever other dogs were loose, looking for the two things dogs look for. IDK about the one, but it seems he always found the other, and then he'd come back and well, it wasn't pretty. I was so glad when I got quit of that dog.
