Winchester Winchester -- yes, i freeze deli meats, in portions (of 2 to 4 sandwiches worth). otherwise, there's no way i could use up a pound of deli meat, before it would turn. same here, with freezing cheese. i only freeze cheese that i'll use for cooking.

I'm glad the Beast is happy. You've given her an incredible life with love and care.
:yeah: Winchester Winchester has definitely given The Beast a great life, with excellent love and care!

today i'll wash the dishes, and scoop the litter boxes. after that, i'll play some computer games, continue with a jigsaw puzzle, and watch some tv.

Thanks guys. The Beast can't help the way she is; she had some serious abuse issues as a puppy and I do try to remember that. Her first owners wouldn't take her outside regularly to pee and then they'd beat her when she peed in the house. It wasn't easy for her. Rick's parents got her from a rescue and they didn't tell them about all of her anxiety issues. Plus, there's a lot of in-breeding in PA with all the puppy mills; we've heard a lot of stories about beagles. She's doing OK.

While I got breakfast for the kids and emptied the dishwasher, Rick stripped the bed and put the sheets in the washer. After his morning nap, he's going outside to work on the shed pad. The weather-weenies are calling for t-storms later on this afternoon into tonight.
  • I have four loads of laundry to do today
  • Visit with Rick's mom tonight
It's nice to have a Sunday and not think "Oh, dang, I have to go to work tomorrow". I'm on a week-long vacation. Yay me!

Winchester Winchester She is beautiful but I am crying now because someone beat her. I'd like 5 minutes alone with them. :angryfire::fuming: She looks cozy and relaxed on her bed.

  • Boxes
  • Tea
  • Light chores. Will put bricks on the deck chairs as we have winds in the forecast with gusts up to 50mph. Will be in the mid 80s today and humid. Then 50s tonight, yikes.

today i've scooped the litter boxes, and taken the bag of litter scoopings out to the trash -- we're forecast to get thunderstorms, wind, heavy rain, and possibly small hail this afternoon/evening.

i'll wash the dishes, then play some computer games, continue with a jigsaw puzzle, and watch some tv.

Mia6 Mia6 The Beast did not have a good puppyhood, that's for sure. Rick's parents got her when she was around two years old. She had some bad kidney issues and needed an operation, within 3 months of her adoption. She's OK now. She likes me being home because we go outside quite a bit, walking around the house. For some reason, whenever a strange man comes into the house (the cable guy a few weeks back, for example), she'll pee on the floor. Every single time. A woman can come in and she gets excited because.....new friends to meet! And she won't pee. Let a man come in and she pees. We just clean it up. There's a reason for it; we just don't know what that reason is. Oh, and her beds? Her old bed, the one from Rick's parents, was so old, it was falling apart. Well, a dog can't have an old bed, how fair is that? So off to PetSmart for new beds! She likes her beds......but she loves the couch. (She also likes the kitty couch and wouldn't let Mollipop use it. I brought the kitty couch back to the bedroom, so Molli got her couch back.)

We got some really nasty t-storms last night. One more tree down; Rick will have to take the chainsaw to the poor thing. We've been trying to nurse it along since it split last year, but two more branches broke off. Dad gave me this tree when we built our house, back in 1984.

I don't think we've seen the last of the rain either. While it's sunny, then cloudy, the wind is still whipping and it smells like it's bringing a storm in. I have all the windows open in the house, so I'm keeping a close eye, just in case I have to run around closing everything again. It gets really dark, but then the sun comes back out.
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked four miles, and scooped the boxes
  • I'm in the midst of a cleaning frenzy today. The computer room is done (except for Dear Richard's desk, which I won't touch): vacuumed, dusted, washed windows and mirrors, Bona'ed the floor, vacuumed again. I took everything out of the room, then, after the floor dried, I brought it all back in again. Then I did the same thing in our bedroom. It's taking a while. I have the bathroom floor vacuumed, the window washed and everything is wiped down. I'm waiting for the floor to dry, then I'll put the rugs back down. And then onto the living room and kitchen. I don't think I'm going to get everything done today.
  • Did a load of kitty blankies and pillowcases. I may run a load of towels later on this afternoon. Muffin was very pleased when she saw that she had clean blankies in her stroller; she hopped right in and is still napping.
  • Grocery shopping tonight. And I think we need a lot of stuff as I really haven't been doing much in the way of groceries the last couple of weeks. And since I'm off work this week, I'd like to do some cooking and a bit of baking.
I've been busy!

Mia6 Mia6 , Yes Muffin has her own stroller. When Mom first got her, we bought her stroller, so that Mom could take her outside when she sat outside with her friends. When she moved in with us -- Muffin, not Mom -- her stroller became her safe place and she still loves to sleep there.

During the summer, I'll take Muffin and stroller over to my sister's neighborhood and we'll walk around town. People will stop us to coo over my "baby" and, inevitably, I'll get a "My lord, it's a cat!". :flail:It has netting over the front, so she can't jump out. And she's content just to sit there while I push her through town.
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked four miles, scooped the boxes, and sitting back here with my morning coffee.
  • I did get done what I wanted to do yesterday, so today I'll be working in the living room and the kitchen.
  • Lowes is coming at some point today with the stone for the retaining wall for the shed pad.
  • I'm making lasagna this afternoon. Two pans, one for us and one for the freezer. I have a loaf of sourdough bread in the oven as I type.
  • VOTE! As soon as Rick gets home from contract negotiations, we're going down to vote.

  • Boxes
  • tea x 2
  • Washing Callie girl's throws....so much hair on them I think I'll wash them twice.

I'm sure Vincie would love a stroller! It's a good way for her to get around and you can take her outside with you and not worry about her getting out. When Mom was first admitted to the nursing home, I took Muffin and her stroller into visit with her in the home.

Lowes showed up yesterday afternoon with our stone for the retaining wall around the shed. Rick said he'll start on the wall tomorrow (Thursday) because he won't be negotiating any more this week after today.
  • I'm really tired and achy this morning, trying to get too much stuff done at one time. I emptied the dishwasher and came back here with my coffee. Today, it's coffee first, then a walk. Or maybe a nap, I haven't decided yet.
  • The first load of laundry is in the washer; I only have three small loads today.
  • Must scoop the boxes and get the trash ready. Something was in our trash can overnight. Knocked the trash can over and started to take garbage out, but there wasn't much for it to eat. Rick saw it this morning when he took The Beast out for her first morning pee. We think it was probably a bear because a raccoon wouldn't have been able to knock the can over. I have a ton of stuff in the can and it's heavy, but not much in the way of food or anything.
Hoping for an early night tonight. Like I said, muscles that I don't remember having are hurting this morning.

We awakened to thunder, lightning, and rain. :sigh: I'm really tired of rain. I'm back here with my coffee. Another morning of "coffee first, then my walk". I think I was in bed and sound asleep last night by 9:00. Rick said he came back not too long after that. It's official; we've turned into old farts!
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, drinking my coffee, then will go downstairs to hit the treadmill
  • Must go down to Lowes for some half-bricks for the retaining wall; we started the wall last night right after supper and worked for a couple of hours. Rick is finished with negotiations for this week and will start in again next week after Memorial Day. So we're both here and can get some good work done....if it would stop raining.
  • Do a good vacuum about the house
  • Scoop boxes

today i've scooped the litter boxes. i'll wash the dishes, likely make 1-2 liters of soda, and pre-measure for the two carob cakes with whipped peanut butter frosting -- one cake will go to a family i know, one member of which has been feeling a bit low lately.

we're forecast to get more rain here this afternoon. :dunno: but we're to have a high of 74 degrees F too, so i'll open a window or two to get us some fresh air in the house...at least until it rains.

this afternoon, i'll play some computer games, continue with a jigsaw puzzle, and watch some tv.

  • Had my first cup of tea on the deck, the first his year. Making a list for Hanna for the grocery store. My favorite pizza place now sells their amazing house salad dressing in bottles and I bought one last night when I had a take away anti pasta. There is so much left over. Enough for 2 more salads. I think I'll have her get some Romaine and cukes.

thank you! :D and you know, it's your recipe that you shared here (which i just use carob powder, instead of cocoa powder)......so thank you again, for that truly wonderful cake and frosting recipe! :agree:

today i've made one liter of soda, moved some ingredients to the fridge to thaw, and have scooped the litter boxes.

this afternoon, i'll wash the few dishes i have already, then get the two cakes baked and frosted. i'll wash the dishes i generate in the cake making, too.

after that, i'll likely watch something on tv.

micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom Oh, wow; that is a seriously good chocolate cake! And the peanut frosting is TDF! Now I want some, too! :yummy: Thanks for trying it out!
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, scooped the boxes, made a batch of sweet muffins for our strawberry shortcake for supper tonight
  • Ran errands: banking, grocery store (Hi Marty!), the butcher shop (will go to Lowes later on today)
  • Did a good vacuum throughout the house (I have vacuumed four times this week and am STILL picking up tons of cat hair! Geez! I can't keep ahead of the fur)
Venting about my MIL. Not her, but her care. We were up on Tuesday night and she was coughing and carrying on. "They said it's allergies." Well, OK, but we weren't convinced. Rick talked to his sister, who went in on Wednesday and hit the roof and insisted she be examined. Her allergies? Pneumonia. Oh, just a minor case, but she's 97 years old. Nothing is minor at her age. She also has a UTI and will go in for a sonogram this afternoon. She sounds horrible and, of course, now, we're not allowed to visit. There's a care meeting coming up and Rick will make it a point to be there; we want to know who diagnosed her with "allergies". Neither Rick or his sister is particularly amused. And her roommate, who can be a real PITA at times, told her that there's nothing wrong and she needs to stop getting attention. Anybody who really knows Rick's mom, knows she is not one to fake being sick to get attention; if anything she'll downplay her symptoms just to be left alone. Her roommate doesn't get it and refuses to think she's really ill. :sigh: It's all about the roommate.....but that's another story.

And I think that's pretty much it.
