hello, I am new to your forum so nice to be here :)
I already live with a beautiful black oriental shorthair male cat (2.5 years old).
I am considering to get another cat.
I initially wanted to get another oriental shorthair but it’s extremely difficult to get my hands on another one where I live so that’s breed is out of the question.
There are 2 more breeds that have caught my attention and I have some breeders in my town. Sphynx and savannah.
Where I live I can only get an F7 sbt savannah.
Which one of these 2 breeds you think would get along better with my oriental?
Just to mention that my vet suggested to get a female kitten(btw my cat is sterilized).
Thanks for any advice

Orientals seem like an active breed so maybe a Savannah? Savannahs are gorgeous too. But have you considered rescuing a cat? So many need homes out there. It's your choice of course but just wanted to put that out there.

Hey, thanks for your answer.
It’s not the most active cat and I don’t own any other before him but yeah he is kinda active and likes to play fetch from time to time and with specific toys.
I definitely see the point in rescuing a cat but I would like a cat with a temperament same to my oriental.

Well when you rescue a kitten you wont know what she'll grow up into. But if you were to see a friendly and active adult at a shelter, you can probably be pretty sure she is just that type of cat, a good match for your oriental. One of ours is very dog-like and she's a regular cat and is almost 7. If your cat isn't overly active I guess the sphynx could work better.

Hello and welcome to TCS. :wave2: I can't help with your questions about breed, however, did want to mention that regardless of the age/breed of the new cat, you should be prepared to keep him/her separated from your resident cat at first so that you can do a slow introduction between them.

Here's a few TCS articles with more info. Good luck getting your 2nd cat. Do let us know what you decide.

I would go for a Savannah. You might do some research on teh sex too, I have found with my many cats taht two males get along liek buddies (both neutered). Females tend to be a little more standoffish with the males when they get older. i have always said the perfect cat family is two males to play with each other and rough house, and a female to keep them in line!

Please consider adopting a young cat or kitten. There are millions of cats out there that need a good home. Go to a shelter and handle/interact with the cats there... you'll be able to tell which ones are more calm and which ones are not.

Please research the Sphynx before you adopt. They need to be kept in 80 degree temperature since they have no fur and must be bathed once a week. This is something to consider.
