We've missed you BJ. :catlove:

Yes, you are. :heartshape:

I think a lot of us do. :petcat:

Did I overlook a picture? Or was it in another thread?
You really should link to that photo! It’s so cute! A beauty!

Jcatbird Jcatbird wise and compassionate thoughts. Of course I agree 100%. Looking at pictures of some furmily members after we have experienced a loss, it is very clear that they are sharing that loss. Some "experts" believe cats are more sensitive than humans, based on where their emotional center is in the brain and how that works, and I agree there, too. *Not to mention the fact that a LOT of humans are very insensitive.*
BJ is so wistful looking! Lots of *SNORGLES* from me to him! And some for Whistle, too. So glad to hear he is doing well.
I believe that science is finally catching up with , what many of us already suspected.
BJ was very thoughtful last night. He had been giving Whistle extra lap time but waited patiently for his turn. He took full advantage of an empty lap.
He loved the snorgles you sent and he sends some back to everyone there!

Lari Lari I’m so glad you put the link up to let everyone see that photo! Such a sweetheart!

WOW! Gone three days, and you guys talked a LOT! Please, everone consider yourselves purraised, but my finger got tired!

I'm thrilled that the eye issue wasn't terribly serious, and under control. Oh. And your ear, too! See what comes first!

Eeeek! Is that another owl! Uh oh!
No, no, THAT is a tylosaurus, a big, scary dinosaur, that was then chased away by the beautiful, peaceful dolphin. I'll spare you all the picture of the tylosaurus. He was not nice or pretty.

Hmmmm. I am working on my house. Some of you may remember that I had a small fire a while back. There was a whossh and a small fireball. Luckily I woke up. I happened to be painting that room a few days before hand. I was puzzled as to what had caused the flame. It was at an outlet so I assumed it was faulty , or worse, a cat might have sprayed it. My cats are all fixed but they can still spray if they feel then need. Nope! I discovered the culprit today. Eeeeesssshhh!
The cats are fine!
No furry critters were hurt.
Banjo did tell me that is wasn’t her. Lol

Spoiler alert!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don’t like ants..... stop now!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

They filled this outlet. Carpenter ants! They formed a perfect chain and got fried! They also fried my Air Conditioner.
Living in the South is such an adventure. I actually spray for these guys. I guess they went in here to hide from the spray.

*GRATEFUL PRAYERS* that you all are okay!!! That is a terrible devastation. *I guess insurance would regard that as an "act of god"?* May you be blessed and protected and may this not happen again!

Tenderness and love shown to all living creatures. Respect for life. That’s the goal!
I agree. Tenderness, love, and respect for all creatures- kitties & humans. :crossfingers:

I had no idea of the bonds they could form other cats.
Demi loves other cats. It's all he thinks about, looking out the windows, hoping one of the neighbor's cats will come visit him.

I’m special!
Yes BJ, you are the special-est. :redheartpump:

I love that photo. Pretty kitty.

I didn't know ants could cause a fire! Thanks for letting us know & glad you are all okay. :eek2:

Gracious sakes!! Gosh I'm glad you're ok!
Yes, thank you. That scared me out of sleep! I didn’t know what had happened but I saw the fireball! Not fun.

I have a second one already!
I hope it doesn’t happen anymore. I hate killing the ants but they are putting the lives of every creature here at risk. I found two live ones so.......it’s a concern.

I should have listened to you when you said stop. ::shudders::
Oh no! I am so sorry! Just know that it isn’t an every day occurrence!! No more photos of them!! I do show JUST the outlet though. Out of the wall. No more spoilers!

Anything that can short out a circuit can cause this. I’ve seen spiders trip breakers fairly often or short the point on a pump but I’ve never seen such a continued circuit of ants. It was bad but also kind of sad. These are a destructive type of ant when it comes to structures. My house is Cypress so I though we might be okay. I am thinking that rain drove them in.

I finally got they outlet out. It was welded to everything. The wires, the screws and the outlet itself. It was a mess. I thought I would never get it free. Yeeeesh!!

I’m very grateful that the whole thing wasn’t much worse. I’ll be going through and replacing all the outlets in that room and checking any that are on the same line. Huh! Maybe every outlet in the house! I was shocked .... poor choice of words, I was surprised to find out what had caused the problem. It’s amazing that it didn’t go any further. I installed the new outlet. It works. :) Once I check out the others on the line I will be putting a new air conditioner in for the kitties. It’s getting hot here!

IAfyer a bit of a hard day I came in the room to be with the kitties and relax. It was a stressful day but when you live at Chez Catbird, you can count on one thing........ a gift from a kitty.

Did you ever think that it might be nice to relax like a cat?

They seem to get more relaxed by the moment!

They can sleep soundly even if the world gets a little topsy turvy! :flail:Bottoms up Kodiak!

Have a relaxed and safe night everyone!

If I may make a suggestion, look into AFCIs- Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters. They can 'sense' something and cut the power before something like you had can happen. They aren't cheap, but still cheaper than a fire. In fact, in many areas they are now required by code for all living spaces like bedrooms and living rooms.

Awww, Kodiak -- cats know how to take living, don't they? No matter what is going on elsewhere, they live in the moment. :redheartpump::dizzycat::redheartpump::loveeyes:

I don't have an ant phobia, but still ... :eek2:

Yes, best to check all the other outlets. You never know what you might find. :frown:
Yes. That made me worry.

Oh my! Thank you for alerting me! I did look them up. I am going to check the box but I bet I don’t have any. The house was built 1981 and this place is antiquated when it comes to laws. I don’t know what the code is. New construction might require it. I really don’t know if I want to tackle that myself but getting an electrician out here isn’t easy. I’m going to start looking for one though. Yikes! Now I probably will be sleeping with one eye open!

This does beg the question...did they go marching one by one, and were drums involved? Ok, so that's TWO questions...

LOVE those photos! Melting kitties!

No, I can't foster, I will take them to the vet tomorrow. The transport got rescheduled because there wasn't enough drivers.
*PRAYERS* for those sweet little ones to find their loving permanent persons/families very quickly, and for those drivers to come on out and make themselves available. :vibes:

I installed the new outlet. It works.
I'm impressed that you know how to fix it. :clap2:

Bottoms up Kodiak!
That's an interesting sleeping position, Kodiak. :headscratch::lol:

I don't have an ant phobia, but still
That's one of the few phobias I don't have. But they are still Ewww! :fear:

Great idea. I think we have something like that, but not on every outlet.

I have two new guests in my bathroom tonight. Somebody must have dumped them.
They are so cute. Hard to believe somebody would abandon them. :(

I don’t recall hearing the drums..... I did have an awful picture in my mind of the first one being grabbed by the second, by the third and so on! Chain reaction. :fear::fear:

My brother told me today that he knew what had happened. I mistakenly called them Carpenter ants. He said ,” They must have been fire ants.”

LOVE those photos! Melting kitties!
Definitely melted! Liquid kitty!

Ick, I don't like the ants. I have two new guests in my bathroom tonight. Somebody must have dumped them.

Ohhhhh! You must be known as the cat lady now! Dumped near you? They are darling. Poor lost babies. I’m so glad you found them! One looks a lot like Banjo. I’m so sorry that no drivers were available for the others.

Drivers please. Anyone traveling soon?

They are so beautiful! So you're fostering them?

How did it go with that last transport?

Yes! And, if you can’t drive kitties or adopt the ones surya surya pictured here..... prayers, vibes, thoughts, good wishes, hopes or whatever you can do to help! Please...:redheartpump: please. Spread the word.

I'm impressed that you know how to fix it. :clap2:

It isn’t hard to replace an outlet. You do need to know what you are doing. Cutting off the electricity to the outlet is first on the list! Unless you want to join the ants!

That's an interesting sleeping position, Kodiak. :headscratch::lol:

I know! It made me laugh. She was totally relaxed.

That's one of the few phobias I don't have. But they are still Ewww! :fear:I actually like ants and I went Ewww! We do need the little guys but that was kind of a horror scene!

Great idea. I think we have something like that, but not on every outlet.

I hope they have love, kindness and respect from now on!
