I realize the following is a controversial opinion, but personally I’d feed my kitten food that has meat protein only rather than the one with plants protein but “formulated for kittens”. I don’t see how in the wild kittens eat different food than the adult cats, more, yes, but different? Having said that, I don’t feed dry (one of my cats is a sworn non drinker) and I wouldn’t say any dry food is truly good because, well, it’s dry, and cats need moisture in their food.
Agreed. I feed my kittens Dr. Elsey’s as it has superior nutrition.

I see what you're saying, I'm going to start introducing wet food and slowly go from there. With the info on this thread I can definitely have an idea of what to do
Feed as many textures and types of food. Kittens are best at accepting different food types. Because they imprint on their mom (you). So if you only feed dry or one type of wet and they change the formula switching them can be very hard as they’ll stop eating.

When it comes to food and care there's always a controversy....but I want whats best for my little guy. So, I will take the time to make the right decision

Thank you all for your help!!!!!!!!!
HI Yuselin: What ever you do get him on canned food when he is ready. Vets say it is better for cats. I made the mistake of only feeding my girl dry food, and now she does not think canned food is really edible and she if 14 years old. Also canned food is better for them (rehydrating) and easier to slip medication into (hopefully not required) when they get older.

So true. I inherited a senior cat. She got sick and needed a soft diet. Two months later I am still working on wet food. It must be puréed and then strained then she drinks it. She only had broth and dry her entire life. So any form of wet food isn’t food to her.

Yes I want to balance it out with dry and wet. He is 2 months old now, is there a right age to start him on can food? Or I can't introduce it now little by little?

You can start it now. With my litter they have free access to dry all day and I feed wet as well. Starting at at his age is good.

I also “free feed wet” I use what’s called a surefeed. It’s a sealed pet bowl that keeps wet food fresh for 12 hours. My young cats don’t eat much wet in the morning. But I put two 5.5 oz cans in each feeder and it’s gone by morning.
They cost $56. But I bought both used online from eBay and just got new bowls. Paid $25 and 35 for the second one. I’ll be buying a third in a few weeks.

They are gorgeous ! I was also wondering about that remove or dont remove the food bowl with dry food or keep it available. I change it daily though. I am so sorry I've never own a cat before so I have lots of questions

You are fine. These are my first cats. I’ve very good at researching. My cats were weaned too young and have food allergies. So I had to learn a lot about cat nutrition. They are fine now as I know there triggers. But yes. Feed your cat a rotational diet with lots of different types of wet food. That way you won’t have this issues if they stop making the food or change the formula. If you want to talk more just private message me. Because we might get off topic with specific threads. Or I could message you if you aren’t sure how to do it.

I’ve learned a lot in the last 9 months what might take most people years. XD

Plus now that I have inherited a sick senior cat my skills are being tested with the wet food transition.
