I stopped free feeding my cats because my slightly overweight is constantly at the food bowl. I have 5 cats who are taking it well. However, my slightly overweight cat is acting aggressive to this change; she is constantly harassing and attacking the other cats which she does not usually do. Is there any way to stop the behavior without free feeding again?

Do you play with her regularly with a wand toy? I notice when our cats get hungry they tend to be a little more feisty with each other. If overweight cat was eating out of boredom, Mayans some vigorous playtime may help?

I play with her regularly but she usually tires out or gets bored quickly. She gets most of her exercise done chasing her son around the house.

Did you gradually reduce the amount or reduce it all of a sudden? If you did it all of a sudden, that could explain her inability to accept the change. If that is the case, increase her food and then start over with a gradual decrease over time.

Edited: you might want to consider toys that you can put food into to entice her to play in order to get to the food - and distract her from attacking the others.
