I was going to recommend the Antser. I have them and they really work. Thank you for looking out for this little one.
I'm keeping it in mind in case my homemade contraption doesn't work out. I have the food plate on top of a short overturned jar, sitting in a water-filled camping plate.

it's entirely possible that this cat is being fed somewhere else. I'd ask around the neighborhood to see if anyone knows who is caring for him/her.
I know for a fact that my immediate neighbors wouldn't feed a stray cat (one is an animal abuser I've reported in the past and the couple next door are dog people). The cat looked pretty scrawny to me and I assumed the animal remains I found were a recent meal...but maybe a different cat was responsible for that. Or maybe the grey cat is scavenging from all over as a supplement to hunting.

I'm going to try to set up a trail camera tonight and see what transpires.

I ended up getting them after my attempt at homemade failed miserably. I hope yours is better. I don't remember exactly how I set mine up but I think it was tupperware containers set up like a moat. The cat ended up knocking one over a bit and it was enough that the ants could climb back up again.

The good news is that something ate some food today. The bad news is, I don't think it knew what to make of my ant-proof feeding station. There was water splashed all around, as if kitty thought it had to fight its way through the moat to get to the food, lol.

About the ant-proof feeding platform thingy, does it prevent large ants from getting to the food? The little ones were staying away from the food when I had it elevated, it's the large ones that are the problem.

I'll be really curious :hyper:
It was a very long day and I didn't get the camera set up just yet. That's my project for tomorrow :-)

Yes. The ants can't get through the water filled maze under the platform.
