Glad the vet was able to squeeze you and Whistle in yesterday. Loved the play-by-play. Sending more vibes that Whistle's eye heals quickly. :vibes::vibes::vibes:

BTW, loved the kitten pic of them hiding under the vet's chair. So cute. And bonded even then. :redheartpump: :catrub:

I saw the dolphin in the 2nd pic too. The first cloud was a scary monster. :)
Cute dolphin, eh. ;) Scary monster, not so much.

Such a deep and devoted bond Whistle and Banjo share! SO glad they are together in a home filled with love and good care. Hoping and praying Whistle's "owwie" is healed quickly and that he does not have to see those chairs (and pretty pillows!) again soon.
Yes, the convalescents can comfort each other! :catlove:

The links here are things that I wish everyone would read. As most of you know, I’ve been working with some in this area to encourage a change. We don’t have TNR! There is a “barn cat” program but it is funded by locals. Our county just put through a vote to allow TNR. A second vote is required to pass it. Funding will have to be raised privately. We need this program. We need people to express a desire to have it everywhere! Thank goodness for the officials who see the need and have given the first , yes, in our history. :yess:
Please check out the links in this thread thoroughly.

Thank you for the healing wishes for Whistle..I hate it when the kitties have any sort of a struggle now. They have all had their share of struggles already. I am keeping my eyes on Whistles’ eye!
That photo of them under the chair really got me when I took it. Such brave little kitties! Their first visit to the vet and they weren’t trying to escape! Lol They have always supported each other. I expect that is what helped them to survive as kittens before I got them. I really admire their courage and great hearts. :redheartpump::redheartpump:

Cute dolphin, eh. ;) Scary monster, not so much.
I’m just looking for dolphin. If there is a monster, I’m going to look at another cloud.:flail:
I agree! Wow! Look at this change! Amazing.

This was taken the day before my babies left for their new home. It looked like they were laying together to form the shape of a heart. When I discovered they had gotten lost at their new home I was devastated. The next two weeks were ...... awful.

Whistle returns home but without Banjo.

I am finally able to recover Banjo too. It was more than a four hour ride home.

Banjo was terrified even after coming home.

Banjo resumed her relaxed ( and upside down lol) position, curled up with her brother again! It was a huge weight lifted from my heart. I know it was the same for them. I am grateful for every moment they have together.

Thank you! He seems a little better. Bird pillows for the kitties! Lol

We are definitely doing that! Banjo has been helping too. Actually, it’s a group effort.

I wonder sometimes if Lelia remembers or misses any mom or siblings from her feral days. Or her friends in foster care. She seems happy now and she and Sparkle pretty much tolerate each other, but I do wish I could ask her.
If she seems happy, she is. You would know if she wasn’t. If you doubt that, just look at the photos of Whistle and Banjo above. It was clear when they were sad. It was also clear when they were happy. Cats are very good at showing us their feelings. Did you see the photo of Banjo when she was giving me the stink eye for taking Whistle to the vet without her? OMG! I felt like she could talk! :angrycat:
I’ve seen a photo of Lelia in your lap. She looked very happy to me. Loved.

Whistle seems a little better today. He isn’t fond of getting ointment gobbed up in his eye but ..... :dunno: Sorry Whistle!

Banjo watched over Whistle all night last night. She is resting today and the second shift came in.

Banjo rested well today.

I think this cat must be double jointed! How does she get her back foot on top of her head like that? :flail:

Well. Once again the kitties have put me in my place. They run the house! I’m glad that Whistle has an entire staff to watch over him. Even Bonjure is sticking up for him! I wonder how Banjo arranged that? The Clowder rules! It is nice to know that they care about each other, in spite of a little jealousy.
:bicolorcat::silver::blackcat2: Have you ever had the feeling that you are being watched? :flail:
Have a night of sweet dreams everyone.
:catrub:Whistle is.

I always wonder about my cats' families, where, how, and if they are. Having adopted multigenerational members of matriarch, Maa's family, I know how complex their relationships can be, just like humans'. And I wonder if humans as a species will ever evolve enough to be sensitive to this and respectful of it.:ruminating::think:
Good on you, Bonjure! :redheartpump::blackcat2::redheartpump:

I think about the families of all these kitties too. The ones that I couldn’t save. I absolutely hated separating any of theses too. I felt awful with every kitty that left here. If I could have kept them all together, I certainly would have. It would not have been good though. There were just too many for me to care for. I’ll always think of them. All we can do sometimes for them ,is our best. At least some of us humans have the sensitivity that you refer to. We just need to spread it to others. Some humans may never get it. They live without a realistic view of the world around them. More’s the pity. I think that those who are in tune with nature will be the ones who evolve. I started being involved with environmental work as a young person. In my lifetime I have seen a wonderful swing towards awareness. After the 1970s’ I feared the movement would die out. There was a terrible lull in the development but it has come back stronger than it ever was then. A steady improvement! Maybe there will come a time when cat colonies won’t be stressed and families won’t have to be rescued or separated. Tenderness and love shown to all living creatures. Respect for life. That’s the goal! Maybe what we really need is a return to a time when there were stronger beliefs and understanding of our need to coexist with everything thing on the earth.

My family only ever had one cat at a time, and now Ruby's an only cat, so although I knew all cats had their own purr-sonalities, I had no idea of the bonds they could form other cats. So, this thread has been so educational for me. I'm glad you started this thread, Jcatbird Jcatbird , and that I found it.

Excellent suggestions, observations, and wishes, Jcatbird Jcatbird . I share them and pray for them.
rubysmama rubysmama I grew up with one cat, and another cat was adopted when I was small. There were two in between, one of whom was a frequent visitior and the other of whom was a very sick little man who we adopted but my dad ascertained that he was in a lot of pain and unable to eat, so he was helped to cross the Bridge by the vet *this was when I was very small, so I know no more than that*.
I think it really took adopting Maa and her family for me to observe and realize that cats do have deep bonds.

I’m so glad that you both have gotten to know that kitty families have that bond.
It’s kind of funny that I grew up with , for a little while, a Dad who loved his hunting dog so much that he allowed it in my crib. Lol She would steal my baby bottle. My Mother always had animals around and both parents grew up with some cats and/ or dogs around. My parents definitely loved the animals. Then I came along and I had a bit of a different viewpoint. My brother as well. I felt that the animals had a much more important role in our world than that of a beloved pet. I felt that they communicated with us if we paid attention to their body language and expressions. I always maintained that the kitties and kittens were bonded family to each other and should be assigned more credit for being loving and intelligent creatures. My Dad used to think that I just had a tender heart and good imagination. Lol Maybe so but I have spent a lifetime with all sorts of living creatures and even my Dad has been , somewhat, converted. He now “talks” to the neighborhood cat. I never felt that I “owned a pet.” I felt that we shared our lives. I still believe that all creatures communicate in their own way and form bonds with others. I have seen it too many times to deny it. Cats especially. I am very grateful that I got early exposure to them that allowed me to observe this. I believe that the life put here is all very special and I wish everyone would respect it and learn more about it. We all make wonderful new discoveries every day. :)

Whistle is still healing but since the other kitties have that all under their care, I thought we might give BJ some attention. He’s been feeling a little left out.

I know Whistle needed the attention but.....

Sweet BJ waited patiently until Whistle had gotten his medicine. The expression in the first photo reminds me a lot of the way Whistle gives me those looks. BJs’ eyes look a lot like Mitsys’ too! More kitty family connections! ;) They have all managed to stay connected in spite of being separated. Kitties are special! :heartshape::catlove:

Lol, the photo from my engagement photos? I made her do that. She's not a lap kitty by choice!

I don't think she's unhappy, though, for sure! I just wonder if she ever misses her blood family/foster home and friends or if she never thinks about it anymore.

Love the new pictures of BJ! I have such a soft spot for that cat.

I loved the kitty and engagement photo. She may not normally be a lap cat but you couldn’t tell that in the photo!
We have to make educated guesses about the thoughts our kitties have but I have had cats who, I felt sure, were missing someone. Whether it was having her babies get adopted out or a sibling, etc. I could tell that the kitty was sad. I did all I could to help them focus on the love that I could offer them. I hope my kitties were able to continue with happy memories of loved ones. Maybe she just has fond memories! I think that when love is being given, the kitties get through things. As humans we often have to do the same. We manage to share our love with others and find happiness without forgetting those from our past. :)

Bj said to tell you ,”Thank you!” He can always pack a bag and come for a visit if anyone is lonely. You know he loves all the girls!

Jcatbird Jcatbird wise and compassionate thoughts. Of course I agree 100%. Looking at pictures of some furmily members after we have experienced a loss, it is very clear that they are sharing that loss. Some "experts" believe cats are more sensitive than humans, based on where their emotional center is in the brain and how that works, and I agree there, too. *Not to mention the fact that a LOT of humans are very insensitive.*
BJ is so wistful looking! Lots of *SNORGLES* from me to him! And some for Whistle, too. So glad to hear he is doing well.
