Thank you all for your condolences, support and knowledge. We have identified and came to the conclusion that a Coyote jumped over our back brick wall, attacked and killed her.

We found a deep, large print where the coyote landed when it jumped over a 7 foot brick wall. We also found "skids" in the wet grass where a chase occurred as well as small tufts of fur that had blown into the corner of the yard.

We live in Frisco TX and if you google "Coyote Attacks Frisco TX" you can see what an issue it has become. I know that we (humans) are invading their space and have no harsh feeling toward the coyote simply for being a coyote and hunting for food. They were here first. I just wish it would have stuck with rabbits instead of our precious Blue Bell. Our twin 7 year olds were and still are devastated.

We will miss you sweet baby blue.

I'm so sorry this happened. I hope with time you and your children can find peace with this and the knowledge that your cat is now free and beyond fear and pain. The change from the physical to the spirit form doesn't change the bond among you. Love is the bond and the strength that lasts forever.

I would say a bob cat got him because of the wideness of the foot print. A coyote's print would be thinner, like a fox or any animal from the canine family. A possum and raccoon's print would also be not as "wide" as these prints look. A mountain lion, could that possibility be out of the question? I may have missed the location for FriscoDave

Cool video. That's interesting how that coyote keeps looking at the wall. Guess he/she can smell your cat over the wall. Again, I am sorry for your loss. But glad you found out what killed your cat. Not knowing is really traumatic and you always wonder what happened. But glad you caught the animal on video! Good catch.

That's a good idea what susanm9006 suggested about building a catio for your next cat if you decide to get another one. That will keep the cat safe, and keep predators out, hopefully!

Thanks for sharing your video.

Last sept 19th at 845 am a large coyote entered our back yard. It was about 15 or 20 feet from greg and arnold and was heading towards them. The cats were puffed up and facing the coyote.

I had just finished fencing that portion of the yard, so the cats would be "safe".

Fortunately I just happened to look out the window and saw what was happening.

I chased the coyote off and quickly put the boys in the house in case another was lurking nearby. The coyote jumped over the fence as easily as I would step up on to a sidewalk.

The cats still go out in their yard, but I am never more than 20 feet from their side and always watching. The fence wont keep coyotes out. But it keeps the cats in an area where I can see them and can reach them quickly.

A catio will likely be coming soon.

And as much as I would never want to hurt an animal, to save greg or arnolds life, a slingshot with ball bearings is at hand. Years ago we lost a cat to a fox.

This article says coyote proof fences are 8 feet high, I've also heard 10 feet. Use simple protective measures to keep coyotes at bay

"You can protect your yard from coyotes. Some coyote-proof fences are about 8 feet tall and made of a material coyotes can't climb, or at least 6 feet tall with a protective device on top, such as a coyote roller (Keep Pets in and Predators Out. #1 Non-lethal Pet Protection System!) that pushes off any coyotes that try to scramble over. Adding PVC pipe or chicken wire to the top of your existing fence can prevent coyotes from getting the foothold they need to make it over. To prevent coyotes from digging under a fence, make sure it extends at least 12 inches underground."

They usually work in family packs of two or more. You'll see one, but not the second one until it's running down the street with your cat or small dog. They entice larger dogs out of their yards and the whole pack attacks and kills them in territory moves.

I am so very sorry this happened to your family.

Even without the Video - I would have said Coyotte. Every Coyote kill I've seen was done rather neatly and it's eerie. Like someone was making a suit.

I've lived with Coywolves and Coyotes behind me my whole life - mostly peacefully.

If you see them around you can train them where your "territory" starts and they won't breach it again unless desperate.

If you have a sprinkler system that can be timed more often. Set it off many times during the night for a week or so. That will help establish a no go zone for them and haze them a bit. It won't help poor blue bell - but it might help keep them at a better distance in the future.

Again - I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. XOXOXOXO

Hi Purr-fect.

AWW. That's sad about that fox getting your cat. So sorry that happened. :( Even foxes can be pretty sneaky. I always hear coyotes at night, but luckily I have never seen any come in our yard. We mostly just get stray cats. So far I have never seen any wild animals.

Those were some good ideas about putting out sprinkler systems to keep any wild animals away from your yard. Not to mention, using that sling shot and ball bearings. That would keep ME out if I were a wild animal. ;)

That's a good idea about getting that catio too. At least your cats would be safe going outdoors. :)

Dealing with wildlife is not easy. And more wildlife are being seen in cities as people keep building out where all these animals roam. Sad to say, that We are the "invaders" not the animals. And some people inadvertently "invite" wildlife on their property by leaving out garbage cans that can be easily turned over, or just leaving out trash period. So it's always a good idea to keep All trash picked up and stored in buildings that cannot be invaded by wildlife. We are lucky that we have a garage to keep our garbage tote in and that way no animals can eat out of the tote. Also we live in a rural area where we pay to have our garbage totes picked up once a week. So that keeps garbage down too. But if any pet food or other food is left outdoors, you can bet that some wild animal will check it out. Wildlife like coyotes and foxes are always looking for food of any kind. So be safe and keep your small pets indoors or in some wildlife proof fencing.
