I just got two new kittens. They are 8 weeks old. My daughter was joking what if one was a boy and what if one was a girl so I decided to try to Google some information and research how to tell male or female apart. and now I think that one might be a male because it looks completely different than the other one which I can tell it's definitely a female I believe. Are long-haired kitten so it's kind of hard to see

Hi. I am not sure from the pic, but then again I am not very accurate on guessing either. Does this article help any?
How to Tell the Gender of Your Kitten | petMD

Btw, if they are both neutered/spayed - then, do you really care, other than just wanting to know, in general? Some member will come along and be able to tell for sure - there is always a few members out there that are really good at this!!

I think you're right. A boy.

ETA: They are both adorable!! If they are not spayed/neutered you might want to get appointments booked.

I have actually had a veterinarian get a kitten's sex wrong. She is a female orange tabby, and the vet thought she was male, maybe because more orange tabbies are male. So even professionals make this mistake!

Thank you everyone. Has been very helpful! I will be getting them spayed neutered. I love them already so much either way!

My BF has this issue with his tabby. He had a cat named Neo, and he got a cat from a shelter that was listed as “spayed female”. So he named “her” Trinity. First vet appointment he was told that Trinity was a neutered male. He shorted the name to “Trin” and every subsequent vet visit we have to correct them that Trin is a boy, despite he feminine name lol.
