Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum. Would like to ask for video clips of your cat meowing. My son wants to study the different kinds of cat sounds for a school project, but our two cats don't meow at all... He's particularly interested in growling/scream sounds and various meows if you kinda can guess what the meows mean.

Your help is much appreciated!!

He did check YouTube already, but he wanted to be able to communicate with the owners to get more context on the video if needed.

My kitty rarely meows long enough for me to film it but I will try to video it. My past cats rarely meowed at all. IMO my cats rarely meowed because they trained me well to respond to the slightest meow. ;)

My mom had a cat that changed it’s volume according to who he was trying to wake up. He screamed for my hard of hearing stepdad and did normal volume meows for my mom & I. After I learned cats adjust their behavior according to the human I just worked on responding to my cats meows. My current cat just meows one meow to get my attention, I talk to him and he quiets. Cats also meow more when their owners talk to them, and depending on the breed.
:goodluck:

Gohan is pretty chatty and he likes to mimic things. We once heard an ambulance siren, and he meowed in that same exact changing pitch wail right after. He never did it again, but it was weird.

Haha, that's a good theory. My son wants to study if cats have a language. Quite ambitious.

Here's a video of our Casper sitting by the patio door, one night, when a neighborhood cat came up on our deck:

The night before, I was sitting upstairs, by the computer when I heard growling and caterwauling coming from the living room. By the time I ran downstairs, everything was quiet. I went out on the patio and made noise to scare off whatever it was that had upset Casper. There was no sign of anything so I just chalked it up to a raccoon or an opossum or something.

The following night, I heard a commotion again but there was nothing. I decided to set up a video cam and let it run. This is what I captured on that video.

Casper is normally a very quiet cat. He rarely makes noise. He will meow, quietly, on occasion when he wants something. Other than that, the only time he has ever made noise is at the vet. (Can you blame him? ;) )

We were very surprised to see Casper acting so aggressive when he's normally such a sweet, quiet cat.

I guess Casper's got some whoop-a$$ in him when he needs to! ;)
