WOW, AbbysMom AbbysMom -- VERY fortunate!!! :vibes:

A beautiful cool cloudy morning, which we're enjoying while we can, as it's forecast to give way to warmer temperatures. I have a Big Blue laptop and our tortoiseshell croissant is beside us. Baby Su got within one foot of Elvis this morning and seemed more curious and friendly than afraid. That's major progress for her! And he did not get that "I've-got-to-chase-you!" look, though he knew she was there.

I've missed coming to this thread but the past month has not been easy for me so I haven't posted here. My sister and brother-in-law flew in for a wedding but the day they were supposed to leave my b-i-l was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately he passed away and the funeral was yesterday. However, the positive part of this post is that it brought my sister and I even closer than we already were regardless of living miles apart. :touched:

~ My head cold has cleared, my new smartphone is nice, the abandoned yard cat is healthy and healing from a head injury ( likely from tree branches or perhaps from going under a car ) - I just brushed him and he now lets me pet him. He scratched me but nothing serious.

Oh, neely neely , my heartfelt condolences to you and your family for your loss! Yes, it is good they got to come out and that you and your sister are becoming closer. Life is such a lot of ups and downs, sometimes at the same time...:alright:

JamesCalifornia JamesCalifornia That's good that you feel better and like your new phone -- what kind did you get? and that's excellent news about the cat..."abandoned"? Is he neutered and being cared for, do you know? :thanks:

~ I think the cat is a neutered male - just guessing . ( but you know we cat people are good at that ) He seems healthy and is calming down nicely. Today I will dose him again with Frontline Plus. All cats in the neighborhood seem to find my yard when needed. :catrub:
My phone is an LG Stylo3 - $49. Very nice !
I just cannot see spending $900. on a phone ... :thud:

Good on ya!!! That's kind of how it was with our "community cats" two locations ago. They got Advantage when needed. It was really tough with one of them, Mehndi -- when he saw me coming he'd run, and after I caught him and applied it he was like he was shot out of a cannon! He wouldn't come close for awhile after that. One time after an overnight vet visit during which he was groomed, he came back with a BOW. That was one of the most amazing sights. I called his doctor to thank him, it was so cute to see him with that.
Yeah, I agree on the phone! I'm keeping mine but if I need a new one any time soon, I'll go with the Google Pixel 3A -- not a bad price for what you get.

~ Oh yes I believe that abandoned cats can become almost feral after being left alone. Very sad. There are two "twins" that I had spayed/vaccinated 5 years ago that are yard cats now. When lucky I can squirt Frontline on them and sneak a nitenpyram tablet in their food. No cat leaves my yard hungry :)

I am so sorry about your b.i.l. I remember how much you enjoyed their visit.
I'm so pleased to hear of the closeness you and your sister have. There is
nothing like having a sis to confide it. :hugs:

So glad your husband is ok, Karen. That had to have been frightening.

:eek2: That's incredible. So glad he's okay!

We had a nice dinner with kids and grandkids last night. Everyone was happy, grandkids had fun, and it was just a sweet evening with family. :grouphug:

GEEZ!

I've experienced (I have to use that word because I squeezed my eyes closed since I was just sure I was going to smack into the center concrete divider) a two-spin "event". I had that same thing where I was inbetween clumps of traffic, and my little '75 Mustang (I LOVED that car) did not hit anything. I can't even imagine ten!

My good things list is long :)
Hearing from Jcatbird Jcatbird about owls in her yard :yess:, seeing that bella hummingbird live webcam has yet ANOTHER nest being built as I'm writing this post :hyper: having my own hummers at the feeder :thumbsup: having seeded veggies and flowers beginning to show :daisy: seeing that the mourning dove is still sitting her nest on the back of the basketball hoop, and also;

I always thought mourning doves were completely docile and at the utmost bottom of the food chain/hierarchy, but I had the opportunity to witness a mourning dove actually chasing off a pigeon. You'd think the size difference alone would give the dove pause, but oh my goodness that was fun to watch and didn't last long - the pigeon left in fairly short order!

So grateful your husband was not hurt. I know that was frightening.

The owls last night talked for a long time. It was amazing. The sounds they made were very interesting. Lots of conversation going on. Maybe we will have babies this year! I’m very glad there are no kitties in the yard anymore!

Amazing how fast we can change our minds about people. Someone stopped suddenly in front of me on my way home and I was like "jerk" and then a saw a tabby and white finish running across the street and I was like "never mind - lovely person."

Today (I believe) is my three year anniversary of the day I met my fiancé. At least we celebrated on the 15th last year. I think when we got to one year we couldn't remember exactly which day it was, but I think it's right.
