She's had two doses of the dirt (her probiotic which she seems to mind far less these days than before.) Yesterday her pooping was after the 6 pm meal. I reduced her 2 pm meal to 1/4 portion as I'm trying to eliminate it altogether, but maybe not all at once. I stuck around another hour. She peed but no poop yet. So I guess this next meal at 6 pm will be the exciting one once more.

Game of Thrones has nothing on the Poop Cam. This will be my evening programming until I’m sure this isn’t the poop shift.

Krista ever so subtle...

Meow!!!!

What’s up, babe?

Looks at the plate she just cleaned in record time. Looks back at me. Licks her lips.

Nice!
You ain’t getting anymore until next dinner.

(But we are growing her portions again.)

It came later than expected but I know you all want to know that she pooped after the 6am meal. And it was perfect in size, shape, and low odor. The dirt did its job to fix her right up.

Sometimes I think she has two colons. One that produces perfect poops and another that dispenses soft-serve. Sometimes she expels from both. This morning, just from the first. But I think this because I'm always amazed and surprised by what I call bonus poop. Because she never just spits out the soft stuff. There's almost always a good one first. And then a, "you were really full of it! where did that come from?" The real trick is making sure I burgle the first bomb before the next time the bomb bay doors open.

Bonkers kitty, you have two hours (or at least 4 more innings if you're watching the game with me) until your next meal.
:gingercat:
Not time yet.
:purr:
Now how do you expect me to feed you when you're sitting on me.
:poop:
:runningcat:
Well, that'll do it. You can poop me out of bed.
:clapcat:

Thank goodness she's still eating the dirt probiotics. It was more like a poop whisper than a poop siren.
:petcat:

She's cleaned another plate in record time, had her moment on the floor where she reflected on the pace of her intake, and has now taken up residence in my lap.

"Stop the blogging and give me loving!"

We had a little excitement this weekend.

On Friday, her eating slowed. Uh oh! Friday night I came home to a small bile barf. Friday dinner she ate about half before pulling up. And then it all became obvious! She had a three poop night! She had the perfect poop the size of a leg. She came back for a small amount of soft-serve. She went back a third time (mind you, I'm picking them up about as fast as she can lay them down) and had a bonus nugget that was probably acting like a plug. After thoroughly relieving herself, entirely within boxes this time (no ground or air campaigns!), she went back and finished the plate and hasn't slow-eaten her food since.

Indeed, last night, I forgot that I purposely hold a few grams back on first dinner because I know she's going to eat it like she hasn't eaten all day (which she almost hasn't since her last full meal was at 10am and she gets a snack, if I'm home, around 1 or 2 pm. This is new too!) She reminded me why I do this. She set a land speed record cleaning her plate. About an hour later, she gave it back. I get my supplies together to clean it up. I pick up what I can, spray the area with enzyme cleaner, load up the Bissell handheld with hot water, and set a timer for ten minutes. The timer goes off and Krista thinks that's for her. She's been Pavlov trained to the microwave timer because when all this IBD started last year, she was briefly on Pepcid. She would sit in front of the microwave waiting for it to beep because she knew that meant I would feed her (when we waited out how long it took the Pepcid to get to her stomach first.) I still use the microwave timer sometimes to trick her into eating. Anyway, the timer goes off and now Krista is yelling at me to feed her. She doesn't care that her dinner is still on the carpet waiting to be cleaned up. She doesn't care that it's only a few feet away from her dinner spot. She doesn't care that there's a cloud of enzyme cleaner fragrance lingering in the area. She's yelling at me, "put some food on a plate and put that plate in my face. NeOW!" 3/4 portion of turkey, I suspect there will be no food grudges here, and she set another land speed record. She inhaled that portion faster than I could clean up the prep for it. And now I can clean her previous dinner. Since this was almost 9 pm when I finished her first dinner do-over and cleaning up her first dinner, we settled in to watch the game and I thought she'd sleep right through her 10 pm meal and we'd feed again at 2am. At 11pm, she wakes up and starts telling me how we skipped her 10 pm meal. We had a few smaller meals on the overnight while we were righting the schedule but we're back on schedule again with only a minimal amount of food lost to the scarf-and-barf and schedule disruption.

But the best amount of excitement we had this weekend, after messing with my scale until I finally got a consistent reading, I got a reading with Krista too: 8.2 lbs. That's the best this fussy scale has ever read for her. Now it could very well be as much as 0.4 off if we count those first readings on me. But I also think she looks and feels very much like a cat filling out again. Her shoulders and chest are still bony but not quite as much. Not just the shoulder blades because that's every cat but the deltoids and triceps. She needs to do more pushups and bench press!

I’m pretty sure I just fed her. But when I finished washing up after prep, there was a clean plate in front of her.

Krista will sit in front of my closet door.

“Do you want to go to Narnia?”
:whiskers:

I call it Narnia because it must be a whole other world to her. Besides the two doors outside which she shows remarkably little interest in (not a door darter!), it is the only closed door in the apartment.

Sadly, she always seems disappointed after she’s seen the inside. She must not know the magic words.

Mystery barf tonight. It came almost on schedule for next meal (about three hours) so it couldn’t have been a scarf and barf. There was so much volume so why wasn’t more digested in that time? There was a small amount of hair. Not a typical hairball. But her appetite isn’t suffering and she’s not holding a grudge. So less like a hairball and more like a hair tissue. Anyway. She just ripped right through a 3/4 portion like she didn’t just barf up last dinner. If she keeps down that portion, I’ll make sure she catches up by lunch tomorrow.

Still off into this afternoon. Hopefully she’ll work it out by dinners. Still finishing her food though.

She seems she worked it out over the afternoon. I came home to an audible trill and no audible ear shaking. She was pushy about dinner. Then she ate 3/4. Went for a poop. And then started to scratch at the carpet. I know what a carpet bombing sounds like. So I managed to discourage her twice and eventually herd her into cat jail: wire shelving on its side across hallway entrance that bisects the apartment. In cat jail, I can close the office door and she no longer has any soft surfaces to poop on except the other box she hadn’t soiled yet. You crazy cat! That’s what it’s there for. The carpets survived another shift. I cleaned the boxes, judged her to be finished pooping, and released us from cat jail.

She finished her dinner and Miss Smelly Belly full-sphinxed on me for her scritches. She’s lucky she’s adorable. Slightly stinky but adorable. We’re a little off schedule. She’ll fix it for me. 10 pm feed will likely come at 11 and she won’t miss the 2am feed.

I suspect whatever was bothering her ear earlier this week also bothers her gut. I think maybe she finds fish flakes I haven’t cleaned up and these are triggering a reaction. Maybe this is why she spends time under the bookcase too. After last night’s barf, her audible ear flapping didn’t have that rattle sound. She still spent today under the bookcase but her eating got better. If you discount the poop break, her eating was back to normal for first dinner. Maybe this week it’s my turn to go on a fish flake hunt. I put so many fish flakes in her trees over the past year that it’s like cat glitter trying to clean them all up now.

Her coat feels luxurious. Her voice is vivacious. And her is appetite ferocious. So what if it's an under the bookcase kind of day? It looks cozy under there. Of course, it's also a beautiful day for the bird and squirrel channels. But I guess she already got her fill of those this afternoon. I did spy her on the Katris for a few moments after lunch before I got the "Hidden Cat detected a motion" alert from under the bookcase. Honestly, if I could fit, I'd probably nap down there sometimes too.

Must remember that if lunch is disappearing, first dinner has to be smaller since she’s going to eat it faster. This is the second or third time I’ve popped her on first dinner.
:barf:
And then she’s so hungry that she wants a redo before I clean the carpet.
:dancingblackcat:
At least her appetite doesn’t seem any worse for the wear. She’ll get a 3/4 portion redo. We’ll be back to full portions by morning.

At least she’s pooped twice today. I can’t imagine I have any more poop shifts tonight.

She couldn’t keep down the redo portion.

I did finally get her to drink water. A lot.

She still inquired on the redo situation whenever I returned to the sink.

I need her to take enough tummy rest for the Bissell handheld to recharge.

This could be a long night. She still looks a touch rough. :(

Poor girl. She’s finally laying down trying to sleep it off and her stomach is still gurgling. I’ll see if I can put a few drops of camomile or catnip tea into her next portion whenever she says she’s ready.
