Is there a general rule of thumb as to how long Nutri-Cal will keep in the fridge?

Sometimes Buddy only needs a dose or two to help him bounce back from yet another setback, and I was just wondering how long I can continue to safely use it, and when it's probably best to just go ahead and toss it and open a new tube. :)

There should be an expiration date on the crimped end of the tube :)

D'oh! That makes sense. No wonder I didn't think of that!

I just assumed that maybe it made a difference once it had been opened. And you know what they say about what happens when you assume things.

Thanks oodles!

Are you supposed to keep those in the fridge?

Not really. The instructions just say to keep the Nutri-Cal in a cool dry place. But where we live, the humidity can be insanely high, even inside the house. So "a cool dry place" is easier said than done.

I think that the expiration date may change once the tube has been opened.
That's what I thought, too. Kinda sorta like an opened can of cat food.

But I contacted a different manufacturer that we're going to be switching over to anyway, and they said that you go by the expiration date stamped on the tube, even if it has been opened.

Good to know that!

I used to buy a supplement called Nutri-Bound, it had to be kept in the fridge and used within a week after opening.
But this was a broth, a different thing.
