3 kittens were brought to me on 5/9. Umbilical cords still attached. Thinking at that point maybe 3 days old. Friend said half the siblings were dead and mama a well. They are staying in a box with blanket, heating pad and a tiny soft stuff animal my daughter gave them. Feeding KMR every 2-3 hours, Through a syringe with longer nipple tip. Only way to get them to eat. Unfortunately first night 1 passed leaving me with 2. Both have been eating, peeing, pooping normal. Formula intake slowly increased daily. Yesterday white one Kakashi stopped eating. I have been forcing tiny amounts into his mouth which he swallows or it drips out. He is lethargic wont move at all. Body temp drops fast when i try to feed. So i leave him on blanket and heating pad but have to move him so he doesn't get to hot in one spot. What can I do to help this little guy? Him and his brother are night and day. Brother moves all over the box, cries and eats good. Chucky little one. PS i can't afford a vet right now. Ive messages cat rescues for help/ advice with no luck.

Hi!
You're doing as much as can be done, and bless your heart!

One extra thing is that you could try rubbing honey that's slightly diluted with warm water on his gums for extra nutritional energy.

Unfortunately when I was making his 730am milk he passed :( poor little guy. It is sad but I know I did what I could gave him TLC. Now all focus will be on his brother Hatake who is doing well but as I learned things change very quickly. Thanks to those who replied.

Yes. In dying its no help feeding them because digestion stops.

The trick is to give pedialyte instead. Its no remedy but may buy you time.

Homemade pedialyte 1 cup water, A tea spoon karo or honey, a sprinkle salt.

You can also smear karo / honey solved in water on lips and gum as mentioned.

The glucose sugar in them goes straight into blood.

And pray.

Good luck!

Absolutely agree with StefanZ and Furballsmom! Cold kittens cannot digest formula but the karo syrup/honey keeps the blood sugar up and warmed unflavored pedialyte/clean water (try to avoid treated tap water because the chemicals are too hard on kidneys) keeps them dehydrated. Some kittens do better on goat milk based formulas. If needed, you can switch at any time to the pedialyte and then gradually add formula to the blend. Please see our fellow member Hissy's website: kitten-rescue.com I am working with a similar situation with baby Bella and when it has been touch&go, I go back to the karo syrup/pedialyte. I also have been giving her Biomoxx because her umbilical cord is still attached and her navel was getting reddened (veterinarian's orders). I was using coconut oil on her inflamed rear but switched to triple antibiotic cream withOUT pain reliever although the vet gave me a Rx ear cream with antibiotics/corticosteroids/pain relief to use if all else failed. And for the first time with one so young, I added a small dose of marshmallow root tea to her pedialyte because she was having trouble peeing. She is 12 days old now & every day, every hour in fact, is an answer to prayers.
Bless you for marching on - the odds are not good but with love, dedication and prayers, miracles can and DO happen!!:vibes::vibes::vibes: Screenshot_20190510-225517_Gallery.jpg

There's a thread about the surviving kitten Katake here.

We'll close this thread now. RIP, little Kakashi.
