She took a bite or two of rabbit at 3:30 and she ate some tuna this morning. But I told her last night, “if you don’t eat or poop by morning, we’re going to the doctor.” So that’s where we are now. :(

They are so busy here that I am trying to just get an X-ray and blood and take her home and have a vet call me when they have a chance to review it. But I also signed a sedation form. They may have to sedate her just to take the X-ray. I guess it’s probably going to be the same deal if I took her to the emergency hospital. Except my experience with them was hours of waiting (1 hour in the waiting room and another hour in the exam room) for a cat doc and I don’t want to put Krista through that again if I don’t have to.
Oh no :( how is she doing?

So the tech said Krista was not up for the X-ray and that they want to sedate her. I imagine she'd be no different at the emergency hospital. So I signed a sedation form and dropped her off. The Dr has to perform and monitor the sedation and he's been double booked most of the morning. I sure hope I'm not picking up an angry pooped on cat when she comes around. As long as they are sedating her, I ordered the works. Pretty much everything but a dental: blood, urine, SQ fluids, nail trim, X-ray for abdomen and another for her hips for arthritis. The last one I figure will save me a trip to the emergency hospital which is where I would need to go for a prescription for the Assisi Loop. I would really rather send over records instead and save us the bother of basically the same visit: drop-off, sedation, films, and bloodwork (and picking up possibly an angry pooped-on cat.) I would like to try the Assisi Loop before the Adequan injections. She has been a super-souper-pooper on all glucosamine-chondroitin preparations so far. Let's try the non-invasive option first.

Actually, to be honest, I'm kind of worried that she has an obstruction. So if she does poop herself, that wouldn't be the worst. Poop is the goal after all.

Oh no I'm checking in to see how Krista has been doing... thinking of you both and hoping for good news from the vet. :hugs: Hugs to you both even though I know Krista won't want them just now, she can save them for later.

I don't know. I think the moment I signed the sedation form, everyone breathed a little easier, and the rush was off the job. She has become a drop-off patient. They close at 5. I hope to get a call sooner than later.

I'm going to make her a batch of rabbit with rabbit liver and Alnutrin while I'm waiting for the vet to call. It will give me something to do and maybe she'll actually eat it unlike every attempt at turkey.

Ugh! That was a bust. I didn’t liquify the liver and the water and alnutrin wasn’t mixing with the meat. It was like I had all the ingredients but none of them wanted to come together. I dumped that and I’m heading to the taproom. It’s that or pace for the next hour or two.

Krista is home. I left her to watch the bird channel and the squirrel channel while I grab dinner and a beer.

Dr says nothing looks obstructed or constipated on the X-ray. She had a yellow barf that smelled foul like feces last night. I felt so awful that I wasn’t taking her down to the emergency hospital. But I had already taken something for my back and was in no condition to drive or deal with the emergency hospital last night (if I could get us down there another way.) I got her into her regular vet office (her Dr moved elsewhere but that’s another story) first thing this morning. It was probably an acute reaction to me using the enzyme cleaner in my carpet cleaner and not keeping her out of the room until the carpet dried. But. She’s been overdue for a checkup anyway so I told them as long as she’s going under sedation, take blood, urine, nails, give fluids, take xrays, change the oil, rotate the tires, everything but a dental. And now we can wait it out, wait for all the labs, knowing I’m not ignoring something unusually foul.

She’ll probably nibble again on the overnight and pick up over the next day or two.

They didn’t tell me how she soiled herself this time. But she came back matted and smelling like a dry “wet cat.” She was sitting on the media bench when I came home. Greeted me with an enthusiastic trill. Jumped down and took a few nibbles. Then went to the kitchen and said fix me a new one! So I did. And she said, this is it?! So I ground up some turkey liver treat to put on her rabbit. And I think she licked up just the liver. Now she’s got a bit of a stink face like she ate too much ice cream. :(. It may be a rough few days getting back to “normal”. But I think we’ll get through this. As long as her blood and urine look alright.

Oh and her invoice says she’s gained weight: 8.1 lbs up from 7.9 and who knows what before yesterday’s barforama fasting day. My scale can’t even agree with itself on what I weigh from one read to the next. Then it just tells me dirty lies about Krista’s weight. 7.4 it said yesterday. I knew that wasn’t right.

She came home earlier so stoned that I was able to peek into her ears for maybe the first time ever. She’s got some muscle control! When she wants to close up the ear shop, the ear is closed. So this is like a Bigfoot sighting. For all her scratches and shakes, it doesn’t look terrible. The ear tea must have done it’s thing. There’s just a little bit of schmutz at the top of all that wiggly process. The bottom stuff is her black ear hairs. She and me both. :doh2:

Hmmm, that's not good!
No it is good. Her weight today is up from her weight the last time I took her in.
:redtabby:

So it’s just my scale that’s a dirty liar. Fake news! Enemy of the people! I don’t want to get a baby scale because I don’t want to obsess about her weight. I just want to be able to trust the read on my scale once a week.

She must have soiled the carrier. She spent way too much time sniffing it out just now. Maybe I should remove this until I can wash it.

I gave poopcat a pet wipe down.

She’s nibbling at turkey a little swifter than the rabbit. But she’s still only nibbling. That’s okay though. I’m told it will take a day or two to recover normal eating after the isoflurane (sedation) today.
