My mom's 15 or 16 yr old cat was fed special kitty hard food his whole life. 3 months ago he was vomiting and having horrible diarrhea so she took him in to the vet and they found cancer. She then started making all 3 of her cats homemade meals, mix of raw meat, cooked meat, and some other stuff. Ernie, my childhood cat with cancer, she put liposomal vitamin c in his food and some Amazonian anti-cancer herb she bought in belize. Well, last week she took him in to the vet symptom free and he has no more cancer that they are aware of. My mom is super into natural health. She's 60 and very healthy. The vet 3 months ago said it was incurable and to put him down. Ernie is more active now than he was when he was like 7 or 8. He catches mice. He hasn't done that since age 5 or 6. Is this strange or what??

:clapcat: Bravo for your mom!! She certainly has dedication. One of my kid's MIL has been fighting breast cancer for years. About 5 years ago, she was given a terrible prognosis and decided to not do the chemo and the radiation anymore; instead, she takes all kinds of supplements and herbs and she says that she is feeling pretty good except for the lung & heart damage that she had from previous aggressive treatments. It is certainly a mystery to me but I am very happy for your mom and her/your:happycat: cat.

Did they do a biopsy and it was definitely cancer? IBD can look just like intestinal lymphoma, and would definitely be improved by a better diet.

But, yeah, cancer can also go into remission and eating well definitely helps!

well just today there was a news article that state that majority of cancer patients actually die from the chemicals in the chemotherapy treatments and not from the cancer itself. My grandmother ate healthy all her life, didnt drink alcohol or smoked cigarettes, walked everywhere, caught the buss and train, even at the age of 80 years old she didnt need a walking stick to get to A to B, then one day her doctor prescribed her a tablet for high blood pressure, in 3 months she developed a cyst in her liver, then it progressed into cancer and she died a year later. The tablet prescribed was labeled as "do not prescribe to patients over the age of 65" . But her doctor did anyways.

I believe it. I was given migraine medicine 30 years ago and that caused acid reflux which became GERD. It wasn't til I stopped taking the meds and went on an intermittent fasting lifestyle eating better that the reflux as well as the headaches disappeared. Now I can't even take pain medicine though because of that.

Knowing a few cancer patients rights now, I have serious doubts about that. Chemo is nasty, no doubt about that, but in many cases it keeps them alive long enough to see their kids grow up. Plus, if it were the chemo that killed them, people wouldn't have died of cancer before chemo was available, and also most pets with cancer don't get chemo and they still die from it.

This thread has a weird anti-med vibe. If you Google it I'm sure you can find stories of people posting about their dead relatives who refused medical treatment and did homeopathic care instead. I also know people who caught breast cancer early and were able to beat it with modern medicine. It's situational too. If I were an 85 year old I might just choose to do natural care and do the rest of my bucket list items. But now? Not a chance I'll take modern medicine.

As a breast cancer survivor, I have to admit that I did everything that my doctors suggested...treated at City of Hope. I was caught early, did not need chemo (not needing it being based on an algorithmic genetic test which some insurances don't cover), but did radiation and take medication. I am completely not anti-med. To get to the point, there are some herbal/supplemental/holistic formulas which seem to be tied into a possible future cancer treatment but for now there are not sufficient longitudinal studies to confirm it. One problem with those studies is that if it is dependent on the patient taking or eating certain foods on their own it is anecdotal at best. Do I think that something is out there that someone might use that is effective for them? Absolutely. Did mom very possibly cure the cat? Sure. Did it work with this kind of cancer and not that kind? Very possibly.

Wow. So happy for your Mom's cat!... and your Mom -- she must be thrilled!

I'm a naturalist, too. I believe in all that stuff!
