This really is too sad.

A lot of people hurt animals and they don't realise what they're doing is wrong.

I once read this somewhere - "You don't have to be an animal lover, you just have to be a human"

This really breaks my heart knowing that there are so many animals in danger..

I does not cost to be compassionate. I cannot understand why humans are so capable of being evil at the highest degree.

When i was young i thought everyone was kind and compassionate to animals, as i grow old, i cannot understand why some humans feel the need to be so cruel and evil to animals. I agree with Will2002 that from what i have read and have seen in the last 15 years of my life and i am still seeing is that there are humans out there in this world who are just pure evil. I dont understand this need for cruelty to animals in this century i though humans were intelligent people in the year of 2019 , and we are in the year of 2019 and humans still act like primitives and it seems that animals are more intelligent than we are. Ok so we create all this technology "we are smart " but we as humans destroy everything we touch, anything that is priceless we destroy and will never get back. Its a sad world we live in.

The way we have been raised as a child to adulthood plays a major factor. So it is very important that we teach our kids to love and respect animals in all forms, the same way we have been brought by our own parents or guardians. I had a neighbor (and also a friend) before that was just laughing when his kid was drowning their cat. I had to cover my son's eyes and explain to him hastily that this was really bad, as he was very little at that time. Then I went to my neighbor and had to literally grabbed that cat away from the boy, with the father still in amusement.

My love for animals was introduced to me by my mother. And I am forever thankful to her for that.

I think you were too kind to your neighbor. If it was me i would have given him a good you know what till he was black and blue, and dunk his head in the water a few times so that the father learns its not that funny. Its true its how you were raised as a child.

Sure, be cruel to a human, that will teach them to be kind ;).

In many places, an animal's life is considered to have no value beyond what money you can make on them. This is somewhat necessary in a farming context---can't afford to keep a dry cow around out of compassion, the farmer has to kill her---so it's hard to change that kind of attitude.
