Hello all! I made an account here to get some help with my cat, wondering if you guys have experienced the same with yours.

It all started out last week Thursday, I noticed blood in her stool and it wasn't just a little it was actually quite a bit. So I called the vet and they could see her this week Tuesday. When I took her they checked her out, even checked her anal glands and nothing seemed to be wrong. They did a parasite check on her stool and it all came back negative. She said maybe she as constipated, but later in the evening her stool was pretty soft and not hard. The vet said she may have ulcers, but she doesn't have any of the symptoms of ulcers? She said she'd put a camera in her to check it out. (BTW, Thursday night I watched her go to the bathroom and when her stool came out, she kept pushing and that's when I noticed some blood drip out. I mentioned that to the vet, but she didn't seem concerned about it.)

Also, after that Thursday, on Friday morning she didn't want anything to do with her wet food and only ate little by little her dry food. I've tried every variation of Nutro, Blue Buffalo Freedom, Blue Buffalo Wilderness, and the one where I got her to get at least a few bites was with Instinct chicken but then she even got grossed out after those first few bites. From what I see, she is definitely hungry but she only eats a little bit and walks off. I'm stressed and don't know what to do anymore, other than calling the vet again to set up and appointment.

Sorry if it's a lot and doesn't make sense.

Hi. How old is she?

The other questions that come to my mind are:
1.) did the vet to a Fecal PCR test? That will confirm/deny bacterial issues. The standard float test only looks for parasites. I would recommend have the fecal PCR test done.
2.) Did you make any changes in her food a day to a few days before the bloody stool? If you did, stop that food, it could be causing her issues.

Hello! She will be 2 in June!

1. No, the test was only to check for parasites. The vet did mention possibly giving her antibiotics, but she said it’s probably constipation. Like I mentioned in my post, her stools have been fine and not hard/dry in any way. I’ll ask if they can do that because I’d prefer to have that camera check done last...

2. No, it’s been the same food I’ve been giving her since she turned 1. I started out with the Nutro Chunky loaf but she stopped caring for that and started giving her the Nutro Minced chicken with gravy and she liked that but then she kind of stopped caring for it too. Also, I think this might be a causing factor for it, but I was looking for ways to encourage a cat to eat their food. I saw someone talk about a purina probiotic fortiflora? I would sprinkle some on top of the food and she would start eating it. Now when I sprinkle it she smells it and runs away. So, maybe that’s the cause of it? I’ll bring it up to my vet too.

Cats are very well known for being picky with their food. I have cats who prefer to starve than to eat what is being served. What I do is give them variation of food by different brands. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. It really is stressful when our cats do not eat.

I even have one cat who after a lick or a smell, struts away from her food bowl, her head held up proudly high, as if she is saying, "Nuh, not my type." What I do is follow her and put down the bowl for her again wherever she goes, until she gives in and eats. My husband reprimanded me for this. He said I am spoiling her too much. But better to do this than not making her eat.

Good. People don’t understand cats can’t fast.
