This has to do with Feeby starting to show signs of her arthritic issues again, after having been on Glyco Flex Plus for about 7 months. It isn't as bad as before, but is isn't as good as it was just a month or so ago. At first I was wondering about some loss of effectiveness having to do with the product Glyco, itself. But, now I am questioning another angle.

Could this be something to do with 'knock-off' products via Amazon, as I have seen some of you on this site talk about? I have always ordered this product through Amazon, but the actual company that 'sold' it has been different. (I go with the 'free shipping' company each time - hence the different companies.)

Bag 1, 2, & 3 ordered through Amazon, but were sold by Entirely Pets.
(consumed Oct-Dec)
Bags 4 & 5 ordered through Amazon, and were sold by "Amazon Services, Inc."
(consumed Jan-Feb)
Bags 6 & 7 ordered through Amazon, but were sold by Only Natural Pet.
(consumed/being consumed Mar-Apr)

Some of her arthritic signs started to reappear about a month or so ago.

At first I was thinking the Bags 6 & 7 were also from Amazon Services, like Bags 4 & 5 - and then I thought about what some of you have said about 'knock offs' through Amazon.

But, when I checked the order, I saw I they were sold by someone else, I now don't know what to think. Do these knock-off issues apply to items sold by other companies that are ordered through Amazon or just those sold by "Amazon Services, Inc"?

Her senior check-up and blood work from 4/23 showed she is in good health for a 14+ yo, albeit some minor arthritis and two nearly fused vertebrae in her upper back.

Your thoughts? Thanks!

Only Natural Pet is a pretty reputable company. I don't think they'd have knock-offs.

Maybe she needs a dose increase? Their body gets used to it so dosages have to be adjusted.

Knock off products is a concern with Amazon. Even the company name you are buying from is suspect because some companies will call themselves something that implies something else (Only Natural Pet for example may not be the same as the Only Natural Pet store online). I've personally gotten to the point that unless the manufacturer tells me to buy from Amazon I don't order any food, medication or similar unless I am okay with generic. It is possible that the product you were sent was not exactly what it claimed to be. Fakes, expired repackaged and other problems do happen on Amazon and there really isn't a great way to ensure you are getting the right thing unless you go to the producers website and click their link to the product page. Even then, Amazon does this stupid thing where you have one listing but the seller changes depending on the price. Very annoying.

It wouldn't hurt to get a new bottle from either a large chain brick and motor or online seller just to be sure it isnt the product itself causing the reduction in efficiency.

Thanks. With this particular product, upping the dosage is not an option apparently. In my other thread, basschick basschick stated that when using Cosequin they stopped treatment for a month or so because the same thing happened to HK - then, started it back up and the improvements came back. So, I don't know...

Thanks. I thought I had checked out both Entirely Pets and Only Natural Pet ahead of time, but I am going to look again - just to double check, if nothing else.

that's right - and we stopped giving it to him in the middle of a bottle, so when we started him back up on it, we started in the middle of the same bottle. my husband thinks we stopped for 6 weeks.

OK. I just looked up both 'Only Natural Pet' and 'Entirely Pets'. Edited: Both web sites sell the product that I ordered through Amazon.

The logos on their web sites match the ones on Amazon, for what's that worth.

So, what does this tell me - anything??

probably not. there are reportedly counterfeits of a lot of products, and it's all about the distributor, not the retailer who buys in good faith.

some people have told me it's more likely to be the real deal from chewy, petsmart or petco, but i don't know if that's true or not. for what it's worth, the folks who make cosequin/dasequin said walmart is an authorized seller.

of course, whether you buy from amazon (which i do) or walmart (not as often), you're still relying on the distributor to be buying direct from the manufacturer.

So, as far as this product goes, it is a crap shoot, I guess??

What is it that members on this site have found that makes them think Amazon is so bad? I mean, it would have had to be pretty blatant fakes considering there is nothing I can glean in what I have looked up so far to give me any clues that what I have bought so far aren't the genuine products.

Only Natural Pet is located in Colorado, and that is where Amazon says the product is being shipped from. The one sold by Entirely Pets, Amazon says is shipped from CA, which is where their web site says they are located. So, that pretty much doesn't tell me anything either.

The other odd thing is that I have noticed with this last bag - which was one of two sold by Only Natural Pet through Amazon at the same time - Feeby is less inclined to want to eat them. Never a problem with all the others. I sometimes have to crush them and sprinkle it over other food to get her to eat it. She's telling me something! Maybe it is just a fluke with this particular bag.

I guess I will order some more - from wherever - and see what happens. :dunno:
